I saw James supporting The Smiths in Poole in '85. They were great but most of my mates were happily stuck in the bar until The Smiths came on!

Speaking of James, just been reminded of them supporting Orange Juice when they were called Model Team International. The OJ guys told them it was a terrible name, and James Kirk said they should name themselves after him.

The Smiths, Joy Division, Buzzcocks and Happy Mondays for me.

Shout out for albums 1 and 2 Oasis too. People sneer and go all purist whenever they're mentioned, but the early songs are far far better than anyone ever dares admit anymore. The atmosphere around them and in the city of Manchester was electric in '93-'94.....before they rapidly veered down a very steep hill.

No...but I've known him for donkeys - met at the Poly bar 1985. We're not on his dinner party list but first name terms if we meet...
I went to the first EC and the last one at the Music Box, had our kids in 2000 and 2002 so that curtailed things a bit.
