Power amps & R core transformers

Dear members,

finally I ordered a pair of R core transformers, I needed 1×35V secondary per ch, so asked 250V/38V to get rid off hum and not to worry about heating if 230V is 241V in my socket. (Really around 232V)
Toroid was 300VA, R-core is 240 VA. I am not a hard-beliver of over-sized monsters.
Arrived.
Dimensions are similar.

R-core is deadly silent. Nice work. No any hum. It was interesting to check toroid and R-core at the same time/place: toroid has strong mechanical hum sometimes, R-core is silent always.

Sound?
Absolutely fantastic. Another galaxy.
I think the 'transparency' what improved a lot.
Faster. Deeper. More living. Airy.
Overtones what I liked, have no any injuries.
And the 'musicality' - as I listen classical only - what I like a lot now.

So, in my set, toroid is a wrong way.
I don't say that there is a 'toroidal transformer conspiration' in the background all over the hifi world, I say just 'R core is OK'.
In selected theatres only, of course.:)
