Anybody running a McLaren 650/570?

That engine and that body… In the twelve years since I first saw that video, I’d not noticed the wheels!

"Baby" is how it should be done. All the engine and body you'd like but not so slammed and better wheels (IMHO, obvs).

I saw enough '66 and '67 Impalas the first time around. For that matter my dad had a '65 and a '67 as company cars. Not something I'd want to see in my driveway, dripping oil.

In any sensible world can't imagine why anyone would want more than a 911.
But for those that do there is the GT3 (and yes it is different): there can't be more than a couple of people on here who could drive a GT3 at anywhere near its limit.
Certainly no interest in McLaren or Lambo. I like Aston but a little too risky on build for the reward.
There is only one mad world car I wouldn't mind tootling around in: Ferrari GTC4.

Second car is an M4 cab comp - 450 BHP, 4 seats and waaays quicker than I can drive it and, if fully used, far too quick to be safe on the road. I can understand the desire for supercars (and I’d love a GT3) but it’s not really about absolute speed as Supercars really are unusable on British roads.

If I’m in no rush, or if the A14/A1 look threatening, this is my preferred, scenic route.

Doesn’t take much longer, lower stress levels.
That was my route home from Boston. Takes me past my schooldays friend Terry 's place. The only bottleneck is Horncastle and I know a locals only escape route around that.

I had a go on my mates 991 GT3 on the road and was it was basically: 1st gear...9k redline...2nd gear....9k Redline..... BRAKE!

Rinse and repeat...

That killed my desire for a modern supercar.

McLarens can be even faster and I've heard they have slightly old school turbo lag so only get funky above 5k RPM. Great for the track.

Have to say at last summer Ireland Cannonball the car that impressed me alot was a 720S with aftermarket exhaust fully lit...sounded like this and just a savage combination with those space age looks :). I can't help feeling that history will be kinder to the McLarens than alot of the current media output is

I enjoy going through weird places, so the few minutes in Horncastle is an absolute joy.

If you are only queuing a few minutes it's OK, but I've known it to take 30-40 minutes to get through that set of lights and it's just tedious. It's a nice little town though, I remember pubs where I went to see local bands, take girls out, all sorts. Happy days.

One of the guys I know who did well in the last crypto run of 2017 bought a new 720S and GT3 to match, purely for doing the European tracks. He gave the 720S absolute death everywhere, fair play to him. Not heard from him for a while though.

My brother had one. He bought it new in 1972 when he was in the Army for £1890 (in 'kit' form, which I believe was to avoid some/all of car tax at the time?). Same year my sister bought a terraced house (no bathroom, outside loo) for £750, so I guess it was a big wedge in 72. His was orange.

Not very long later, he had a Mk1 Escort. I later found out that his (then) girlfriend wanted a go (she had no licence) and wrapped it around something. He still married her after that, not sure why, as he never forgave her, and now divorced anyway...
£1890 was an enormous sum of money for a car in 1972. My dad started teaching in that year and has told me that he was earning under £1000 a year. So that's 2 starting teacher's salaries. A teacher is something like 27-28 k now so your brother's Lotus would be £55k, give or take.

You have entirely missed the point. Is a 6R4 ugly? S4?

Do you know what those combinations of numbers/ letters mean?
I don't get what you are looking for here? What point have I missed? In my opinion it is ugly - in my opinion a 6R4 is not ugly. Are you talking about a Delta S4? Are you telling me what if find ugly?

Sweet chocolate monkeys, here we go again.
Have opinions on looks been discussed before on this thread? That bulbous rear end is hardly functional compared to the box arches and aero of the 6R4 - yet I wasn't talking about that. I was talking about how I view it, and only the rear half. The front is a relative joy; a masterpiece compared to the rear.

That rear end contains the suspension and drivetrain of the Supra. You need to drive it Myles, if ever there was a single car manufactured in the last 20 years whos looks were of no importance whatsoever then the GR-4 Yaris is that car.

If I drive it I can't see the rear - I'm in!
