There are actually two full systems in this room, an Active Linn Kaber system, and a basic Naim system with Ruark Talisman 2s sat proudly in front… I’m really enjoying the Naim/Ruark system!

This Kaber system will probably be dismantled and sold on!

My main system is in another room and has been shown in a previous thread, but here goes!

Looking at that I'd never previously thought about how Linn gear is the same width as an LP. That's seems very sensible - as your setup shows. I wonder why the norm is to have slightly wider cases.

Winter system engaged!

Replaced the JVC z1010 (summer) with the Cyrus Phono Signature / Audiomat Prelude Reference combo for the winter. Lose a bit of scale, gain a bit of immediacy & transparency. And the lid of the Audiomat makes a nice hand warmer when its -20c. Seriously.

Rest of the gear...VPI Aries / JMW-10 / Koetsu Urushi Platinum. Sony CDP-X7ESD. NAD 541i CD / HDCD player and NAD 4300 tuner. If you look closely you can see the HDCD led illuminated on the NAD in the cabinet, as I'm spinning some Joni Mitchell and I've got a stack of her stuff in that format. Also note the Stillpoints under the credenza!

That Sony X7 looks gorgeous (well as does the whole system). I've got one that I'm going to put up for sale on here soon, will be a wrench to say goodbye to it

I’ve never thought too much about it, but I’m guessing most domestic gear is 17” in width because that’s the aperture width in a 19” professional rack (the 19” includes the rack mounting ears on pro gear), it’s just a pretty standard size. Some manufacturers, Quad, meridian and Linn being the ones that spring immediately to mind started making kit that was roughly 12” wide in the mid 80’s, and it’s a lovely form factor. Sadly, with the ever growing complexity of AV gear and the massive array of necessary sockets on the rear panels, both Linn and Meridian boxes grew in the early 00s.

Some great system pics on this thread. Here's my main system from about 18 months ago (first three) followed by a couple after we redecorated. We got sick of seeing all the black boxes, metal and cabling and wanted something more peaceful so stuck it all in a new cupboard!DB2FCC87-D31F-417D-8461-854F77E74C01 by Ian Stafford, on Flickr 6C85D1C3-E4E3-446D-8F1C-4369E08A3FC4 by Ian Stafford, on Flickr 5EAAB07B-F630-4C94-A3F3-E64601518D67 by Ian Stafford, on Flickr C19DC94B-3066-40F8-B425-B265F9341F68_1_201_a by Ian Stafford, on Flickr E3938C1B-2996-4B6C-94C1-79229A8E6D6A_1_201_a by Ian Stafford, on Flickr

Thanks Cereal Killer. Hadn't realised that you posted the link directly into the text box. I was posting it into the url after clicking the add photo button!
Not sure if you can hide the coding text after each photo though?
Try clicking the share arrow bottom right in your flickr - BB Code tab - copy paste the full url text direct into your post.

Can you give us details of the system? Looks excellent now.
