Unbalanced to balance converter.

Hi all.
I have a pre amp that only has unbalanced outputs and I want to run it to a power amp with balance inputs. What's the best way to do this.

I would think a converter at the power amp end that presents an rca input. Better than the other way round. That way you could use existing single ended cables.
 
How far from the pre is the power?

If its close you can just use the balanced input as unbalanced by shorting pins 3 & 1
 
Not that far away about 1m or 1.5m so not far.
I use a plug adapter at the moment and I get abit of hum. Only on one side through.
And I have seen some conversion boxes that convert unbalance to balance I just wondering if this would work.
 
I used a Rane B22 balance buddy to good effect, has the benefit of upping the levels from -10dBV to +4dBu, so good for long runs (place at source end).
