Why do old people think that youngsters use Facebook? It’s so twee, that illusion.

I don’t have any social media account. I steer well clear of all that stuff. I have no use for it.
Forums suit me just fine.
Not really.
Indeed. Most older users of Facebook like me (and I hardly use it now except to look at other peoples' dinners) will have signed up when they were younger and it was all new and, errr exciting. Meanwhile, younger people will have moved on to even more exciting and vacuous platforms. It was ever thus. Why do old people think that youngsters use Facebook? It’s so twee, that illusion.
Sign my out thenerr yes really
Indeed. It is pure comedy gold! Most don’t go anywhere near it.
Amazing, apart from conceding some benefits, that’s exactly how I felt when watching reports of the Tory Party conference on the news.Social media is the primary cause of the collapse of the fabric of society. I've been saying that for well over 10 years now. It ruins children's lives, causes untold stress and family tensions, allows the spread of hate and ignorance and encourages stupid people to be even more stupid. I concede that there are some benefits, but these are inconsequential in comparison to the enormous harm done.
I think the difference is that youngsters don’t exclusively use Facebook and are likely to frequent a multitude of different antisocial media.Always pays to know the facts. According to the below, you appear to be a tad misinformed. 25-34 largest share of users; that's young to me.

Don't forget, though, that 13 is the lowest age at which the state deems it legal for kids to partake of social media, and many parents may well restrict their offspring's access to channels not designed specifically for kids, until they are a little older. So a relative dearth of, say, 13-15 year olds will skew the figures for that cohort a bit.Even though that is a monetised link that I can’t read properly without paying it is clear that 13-17 year olds, who most would consider ‘young folk’, is the smallest group. 25-34 aren’t kids, they are often parents!
PS If you are worried what your school-age kids/grandkids are reading on the internet chances are it is not Facebook!
