Rishi Rich. Unlike Boris he has shedloads of money and is not obviously a chancer. Gove might have been the choice a few years back but his time has come and gone.
It would appear that view is shared by Field Marshal Max Hastings, a man in the position of having fired Boris Johnson once already,

“Who would follow? To many of us, Rishi Sunak seems the only acceptable answer. It is true that we still know relatively little about him, because of his rapid ascent from Winchester head boy, through obscure backbencher to chancellor. He would be handicapped by the impossibility of matching Johnson’s feelgood skills with all manner and condition of people. But he possesses star quality, grace, dignity, integrity, a sense of responsibility and gravitas, such as none of his cabinet colleagues can match. He does not taunt Johnny Foreigner. He was not a member of the Bullingdon club”.

Max is already picking his cabinet for him- Jeremy Hunt (you know how bad things are when his name comes up) and that other great military man, Tom (‘ere wot kind of names that?) Tugebdhat.

Watch out this week during the conference for such uplifting phrases as
"Unprecedented Pandemic"
"Levelling Up"
" High Skill, High Wage"
"Ordinary ,hard working"
and other perennial guff

Yeah anyone who doesn't ask for donations for No10 renovations will be an improvement.

Freed from Johnson's influence he could be a good PM.
(please)

Not a chance. The NI rise and the way it batters the very poorest and the self employed demonstrates where Sunak lies on the map. He’s the very definition of the elite oligarchy, he’s apparently worth more than the Queen!

I understand it's his wife who's seriously rich:

Sunak married Akshata Murthy, the daughter of Indian billionaire N. R. Narayana Murthy, founder of Infosys, in August 2009.[12] They met while studying at Stanford University and have two daughters.[12][14] Akshata is a director at her father's investment firm Catamaran Ventures and manages her own fashion label.[83] Her shares in Catamaran Ventures are worth £430m, making her one of the wealthiest women in Britain and wealthier than the Queen.

That’s a very Tory thing, IDS is similar, married into £millions yet still rings-up £45 breakfasts at the tax payer’s expense whilst making the lives of those on benefits a living hell. As ever Tories gonna Tory.

If it brightens your day, the local news has reported that IDS was assaulted with a traffic cone on his way to a fringe(hahaha) meeting today

Tories coming on strong in defence :), attacking on a few fronts today I see. Strange to see that a female was assaulted at the conference today , I thought that was an old Tory policy but its stubbornly holding on to its grip of the party of filth corruption and lies.

This blithering idiot is being ripped a new one on R4 right now. It will be a while before he accepts another invitation. Robinson is doing OK.

That’s what I don’t get about the adoration of Boris. Like Trump he is a lousy public speaker and folds under any serious interview scrutiny, resorting to that liar’s eye swivel with smirk when he’s caught red handed. Maybe it’s the “he might be a useless, lying **** but he’s our useless, lying ****” principle?

People get so invested in his cultivated groundless optimism, that the total disconnect between what he says and what happens becomes an awkward inconvenience rather than the actual disaster that it is.
