No Time to Die, Yet?

I can't think of many films worth risking catching the virus for, and this isn't one of them. So I'll pass.

It's all relative - i stand far more chance of catching it from the 300 or so year six children I've taught this week than Cineworld Nottingham...

Just seen it: its not bad, its a Bond film, if you like Bond film you should enjoy it, if you don't I'd suggest you spend 3 hours doing something else.

Its longer than it needs to be IMHO by about 30-45mins
It suffers from throwing everything at it in places
Chemistry between Bond and Bond-girl is lacking IMHO
There are a LOT of references to previous bond films, its not taking its self too seriously
Some of the other characters are EPIC
It nicely ties up the end of an era IMHO
It nicely allows them to fork the franchise should they want, there are options for the new 'bond'

I enjoyed it!

Going Saturday afternoon with a mate and his missus, then back to his for food and drink s. Sounds like a good end to a wet Saturday.

The big premiere was held in the Royal Albert Hall.
Was anyone from this group there at the premiere either as a tech or an attendee. If so how was the screen and projector arranged so that the whole audience got the whole experience

More to the point, how did the organise the PA so the dialog wasn't rendered unintelligible by the 1.6 second reverb of the hall?

Seems like an odd choice of venue.

Yes, I saw BB King there a great many years ago,the acoustics were rather poor. The band were great, and possibly the fattest band I've ever seen, but the sound was ropey.

Found out we're not going now. Need double jab online app certificates, whatever else. No. I'm not that bothered, I want to have a nice afternoon and evening with my pal and his missus, were finding our own entertainment.

Cineworld don't need this, either. Very clear on their site what's happening with them.

Going to be worth watching, reviews seem positive. Does seem to be over-long though. I will enjoy the stunt driving, mostly by Ben Collins (white-suited Stig on Top Gear). I met him at a trade show in May 2019 ("Ahhhh, Mr Collins, I wasn't expecting to see you here. What are you working on these days" "James Bond". Made him laugh anyway). Nice guy.

I think Mark Higgins does it now

1 hr to 90 mins is about all I can sit still for, though I must say the modern armchair type seats in cinemas do stop my rear end and back from complaining as much as they used to in the old days. I shall have to wait till this gets on the telly so I can record it and split it up a bit - might even pay for it if the reviews are good enough.

My Mrs is a crazy Bond fan - the only time we ever go to the cinema is to see a Bond movie. Normally i find the cinema meh at best.....

off to see it a week tomorrow. Nice big screen in Leicester SQ - recliner chairs..... once the lights go down, i hope the film is engaging, otherwise i will be asleep after a few beers and popcorn.

In preparation for the new Bond (going on Monday, not Friday) we finished watching all the Daniel Craig Bond films yesterday.

We enjoyed them all - our order of enjoyment -
  1. Casino Royale -best
  2. Spectre
  3. Skyfall
  4. Quantum of Solace - not bad
Avoiding any review of the current film until we have seen it.

In terms of favourite Bond theme songs, Skyfall then Spectre. The other two songs don’t stick in my head very well.

Casino Royal for me. I thought Skyfall overrated. I have a problem with the final act. Seems to jar to me and just tipping into syrup sentimentality. I like Craig. I think he bests Connery. Booked the new Bond for tomorrow. Kermode liked it and I find him the most consistent of reviewers.

ours is

  1. Casino Royale - best (we thought this brought the book alive)
  2. Quantum of Solace
  3. Spectre
  4. Skyfall (we hated it)
