What songs name check Bristol?
Just listening to one now and I’ve never heard anyone sing “Bristol” before...

The most Bristol band of all, The Blue Aeroplanes...
"She went all the way to Anti-Pretty, she drove herself there,
In an antique Bristol she picked up on the way."
OK, maybe not :)

Summertime in England
Won't you meet me down Bristol
Meet me along by Bristol
We'll go ridin' down
Down by Avalon
Down by Avalon
Down by Avalon
In the countryside in England

That's the one I was listening to!
From the "Common One" album, which i probably had not listened to in 25 years.
Wonder which part of Bristol he was hopng to meet his friend?
And Van does like his references to Avalon too.

Not song lyrics but all the Sarah Records compilations are named after places in and around Bristol. Air Balloon Road, Glass Arcade, Shadow Factory, Gaol Ferry Bridge, Fountain Island etc

I bet there's a lot of old sea shanties and the like that are long forgotten. I can think of Bournemouth Runner - The Fall (whatever Bristol ball is)

Was chilled to the bone
At 8am
On a Bournemouth morn
There was a drum deck
Outside (Route/room?) 51
Two nights before
Bristol ball
A runner took backdrop, exit hall

Al Stewart, "Clifton in the Rain."

Al Stewart and Laurence Juber perform a new 2016 version of his 1960s song Clifton In The Rain, specially filmed to be shown as a greeting to the audience at the 50th Anniversary celebration of the legendary Bristol Troubadour Club which is mentioned in the song.

Al - just named as recipient of the BBC Folk Awards Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017 - was one of the most popular and regular guest artists at the club at 5 Waterloo Street, Clifton Village, Bristol, which ran from 1966 to 1971 and now has a blue plaque to mark it!
