RIP Boycie (John Challis)

I met John at a food festival in Chelmsford a couple of years ago. Ironically, it’s taking place as I’m writing this post.

It was at the end of the day and I remember thinking “it’s Boycie, what’s he doing here ?”. We had quite a long conversation. He was absolutely charming and I bought a copy of his autobiography. The book is well worth reading. It’s honest, it will make you laugh and there’s some personal stuff in there that every man can relate to.

R.I.P. John and thank you.

I know it is inevitable that people of a certain age die - Jimmy Greaves and now Boycie - but it is sad when two people you have never met but feel you know do so in such a short space of time.

My wife saw him in panto as one of the ugly sisters she said he was brilliant, which I can well imagine.
