A little more 997.2 porn, this is my 2011 Black edition Carrera 2

Ouch, that is nice. That'll be worth big pennies and not heard of the Black Edition so there's probably even more value in that.

Just out of curiosity, since many here seem informed of Porsche prices, what would an unrestored 1987 Carrera coupe', 220,000 km, the odd scratch, signs of wear, sunroof, full leather, be worth?

Youll have to take a long look around the internet and make up your own mind rather than have us do it for you! ;)

The Black edition was a run out limited edition model right at the end of the 997.2 production; as the plaque shows there were just 1911 produced and sold worldwide; it is a standard 3.6 Carrera 2 with the addition of a good selection of desirable extras such as heated seats, cruise control, Turbo II alloys and sports crono, mine has the PDK gearbox.
I bought her in December last year as a retirement present after following the market for more than two years, I initially missed out on two other cars then this one came up for sale at a very competitive price so I put a deposit on her within fifteen minutes of the advert appearing; she has only covered 35,000 miles with three previous owners and a full main dealer service history, she is one of just 3 registered on the 911UK forum. I took her to the recent Beaulieu Simply Porsche 2021 meeting and she was the only Black edition 911 present. Here is a gorgeous modified 964 that was also there on the day for lovers of older 911s

I have, of course, and in Italy come up with a range of 50,000 - 70,000 Euros. But these are asking prices, and in Italy. I just thought that, since there are some on PFM who are frequently buying and selling they might have some idea of UK prices, as I said just out of curiosity, and price trends up or down, off the top of their heads. I had no wish to delegate internet donkey work.

In general, so few cars come up for sale that if you want to sell one or get a value for insurance, just go for the highest value and see what happens. I think prices here in the U.K. are still rising.

Oh yes the Stag, very pretty car and a shame to mention it without a piccy...

There was the slightly similar Fiat 124 as well...

The Triumph Stag is indeed a very handsome car, especially in that colour, and I know folks are very fond of it so I don't want to start a fight with anybody, but I have always struggled a bit with Michelotti designs - or at least the ones he did for Triumph (Herald excepted - that is a piece of pure brilliance). There is something a bit fussy about them - lots of trim, lots of brightwork and quite "busy" contours. You can see what I mean just by looking at it alongside the Fiat 124 Coupe. The Fiat has a sort of simplicity and calmness about it. Anybody else feel this?

No. I like his designs. I like the notched back theme. The GT 6 was great looking, the bonnet was proper sports car.

One unloved car is the Capri. I was talking cars with a young guy at work, he's early 20s so doesn't know the cars I grew up with. I have an A5 coupe, which he likes. I described it as "a Capri for the 90s" . He looked it up, and a Stag at my suggestion, he reckoned the Capri to be the better looking car.

I like the left -field suggestion of the Triumph Stag above but always thought the 2.5 PI the shell & concept was based-on ...a prettier,better-resolved thing. And the 2.5 PI with a straight-6 sounds fantastic (and is reliable!)

Anyway -my vote amongst 'best -looking' - whatever that means: Woolf Barnato's 'Blue Train' Bentley - not that it exists anymore, but here is a most wonderful repro:

Frankly I don't care if no one else likes it: its a most desirable thing to me, of many desirable things.

My dad used to have one of these in the 70’s. Still prefer the look of this classic Celica to the Capris and Mantas of the time.
