Your Tone Arm History @ an arm which aesthetically you would love or have

Only a few:

Linn LVV
Rega RB 250
Rega RB 300
Rega RB 600

Plus a Morch something or other which is in bits in a cupboard and has never been used (by me).

I have had few.

RB250 on a Planar 2

Linn Akito Mk1 on an LP 12. Nice enough and very simple to set up. I still think Linn took the absolute piss when they 'upgraded' it to Mk2 status by changing the paint finish and suppodely upgrading the bearings.. taking it from a sub £200 arm, to £500.

Absolute minter of an Ittok LVIII Mk2, purchased s/h for £300 around 1993 and sold for a lot more 20+ years later. Also very easy to balance out/set up.. but not especially inspiring soundwise.

Audiomods Classic on a Gyro SE. Decent arm.

Audiomods S5 on Orbe. Very nice. My current set up.

Always fancied a Syrinx and loved the look of the Zeta. Alphason HR100s is a cracking arm.

tonearm on a garrard gt35p
R200 on an 80's rega 3
logic datum on a systemdek
mission 774 on systemdek and lp12
ittok lv11 on lp12
another ittok lv11 on my current lp12

always fancied a syrinx just for the simplicity of the design.

Only had a few over the years

SL1200 arm that came with the deck
Origin Live OL1 that came with the space deck
Jelco 750D
FR64s silver wired version
Had a loan of a Kuzma Stogi s 12" arm that was on a J Sikora Initial TT

Always fancied a Kuzma 4P 11" but here mixed reviews and still want to get hold of the Jelco 950 or 850 since I hear good reviews and a Schroeder arm, see what the future holds

Not many.

Linn Basik Plus (on a Syncro)
Rega RB300 (on a Gyro) - still have this arm since 1994 - now on a JVC DD turntable
Linn Basik Plus (Lenco GL75)
Audio Note V1 2 (Orbe)
SME V (Orbe)
Wooden 12 inch arm off ebay (SP-10)
12 inch Unipivot (SP-10)

So many other arms I would like to try in the future.......
Just found an old receipt from when I bought the Syncro in 1985 and it came with the Linn LVX (cost £91 new) not the Basik Plus....

Can you rank say the top three in your opinion Mark?
Hi Decameron,
It's hard to say. I've listed 45 years' worth of tone arms, which have been on Technics, Denon, Oracle and all manner of Roksan turntables. I won't get into the cartridges. I still own and use the last four tonearms, if that's any sort of indication.

I must confess to, out of sheer nostalgia and looks ( never a great idea in hifi?) wanting to put an Ittok on the LP12.

I think the Ittok/LP12 combo one of the most aesthetically pleasing TTs ever made. I curse the day I 'upgraded' mine and ruined it, eventually selling as I was so disillusioned with it.

Can’t remember the early ones as I was more interested in the music than the kit:)
TTs were
NAD
Pioneer
Thorens
Rega
The ones I can remember
RB 250
RB300
RB 250 audio origami modded
Audio mods S5
Origin Live Conqueror 3C
Origin Live Enterprise 3C

Would be interested to try the Thales
I would have an Audiomods S5 again - lovely arm

Not many here, always what was fitted to the deck I bought.
1) Some sort of OEM Jelco (?) on Systemdek 1/900
2) RB600 on Rega P25
3) RB303 on Rega RP6 (current).

I've always loved the look of SME V and Wilson Benesch ACT, but will likely never have either, as I'm just a plug n play type!

I like these threads, never much one for change me:

Naim ARO c.1991
Naim ARO with TP sKale c.2019
The End.

EDIT: have always been fascinated by parallel trackers but not for the looks!

You've piqued my curiosity, what's the story? You could save me from making a similar mistake.

Integrated arm on Garrard GT20
LVV on 11X
RB300 on 11X
Integrated arm on Lenco GL75
Audio Craft AC300
Acos GST1
Jelco 750D
FR64fx
Would like to try a 64 or 66S, the Glanz and a parallel tracker of some sort. I also love the look of the Helius Omega but it wouldn't look right on any of my idlers or LP12.

I forgot to mention the Groovemaster which is an arm I would like to try one day, it's (fairly) affordable and would look good on one of my Garrards.

Hadcock 228 (still have it)
SME 3009/II Imp
Rega RB300
Audiocraft AC300
Audio Technica AT1100
Grace 707/II
Audio Technica AT 1005
Schroeder Model 2 (still have it)
Schroeder Reference (still have it)

Fascinated by the Thales tonearms
Two Schroeders!! You lucky man.

Rega rb 250, then 300 both were rather good considering their prices on their respective decks(still keep a 250).
Project 9cc: underrated IMO considering the build/performance at the time.
SME Series III with all the good bits.
Origin live Alliance.
Roksan nima v2-
Technics sl 10 parallel tracking in the lid, does that count?
Clearaudio clarify- current arm.

Acos Lustre GST1
Rega R200
RB250
RB300
SME 3009 S2 Improved
Hadcock GH228
Linn Basik Plus
Ittok LVII
Ekos
