It's possible to pop the delicate coils with the test current of some multimeters.

In the case of the P75 (in "phono enhancer/Dr T" mode) and the GTi phono stage I make they are transimpedance stages and "don't have loading" in any conventional way. The cart works into a "virtual short circuit".
