Guy Martin’s blue minnow car programme.

Like wise see here at 3 mins for how fast a REALLY fast EV is. Ferrari is 1000bhp FYI.

Holy Fook. Hadn't seen that. 8.6sec quarter mile...insane

I just can't imagine our roads in the future where power trains and batteries get so efficient that even some of that performance trickles down to the midrange stuff. How will punters keep their licenses?

I'm guessing it'll all be online and the fines will come that way too

Unless the charging time gets down to the same or just over the time to fill a petrol tank electric cars will never take over for the general public.

Getting that done in 9 years is not possible, maybe in 20 years.

The average house, flat or high rise does not have the option to wait at a charging point or charging from home.

Most charging will clearly be done at home or at work if available, an infrastructure of relatively quick chargers will only be required for top ups to ensure you can complete your journey… I can see that happening

There is no choice, simple as that. The average household will be buying EVs, the engineers and scientists are on top of the issues already.

Ask your wife if she likes going to the current service station for petrol/diesel?

If she has a car that the husband just has to plug into a socket at home a few times a week she'll be all over the idea

Women decide the majority of car choices (even in subtle but effective ways)...just ask any dealer. Why do you think SUV's took off ...higher equates to safer apparently LOL.

The tipping point is coming sooner than I'd expected. My Facebook stream is full of EV sponsored adverts for car options that simply didn't exist a year ago and this is just 'mk 1' from the mainstream manufacturers.

I live on a typical city residential street. We're one of the two houses with a garage and off street parking. The remainder of the cars are parked on the road, so if these were electric cars there would have to be a massive investment by the council to add charging points everywhere.

Has anyone actually seen an electric car being driven in a sporty manner? I can't recall ever encountering one, which I've assumed was because they generally appeal more currently to the people that mostly see a car as an appliance rather than as something to enjoy.
I've pedalled my Wife's Tesla pretty quickly down some twisty roads, most recently on the B9007 & A939 (Dava Moor Road) in the North East of Scotland. I had driven the same route a few days earlier in my Yaris GRMN and the comparison was interesting. The Yaris was more nimble (as you would expect) but the Tesla was pretty damn good - the punch out of corners and instant throttle response made for an entertaining drive.

Here is some interesting reading for those that can be bothered.

Like Covid-19 who ever thought that would happen and nearly 2 years later we still have the effects.

Of course most will say, it will be fine, the government(s) and scientists will have it all under control........

so should we all go and live in a cave?

I heard an interview with a Glasgow City councilor this morning and they said they currently have provided 225 public charging points for electric vehicles in Glasgow (which has a population of about 600,000) but pretty much said they hadn't decided what to do yet about the more general provision of charging points, although were still pushing the case for electric cars pretty hard.

My house up there is on the A939 so you'll likely have passed it. It is a very nice road.

This is where the Russians’ continued use of valve tech could put them at an advantage. We probably need to ensure critical infrastructure is hardened where possible.

Anyone know where I can buy a faraday cage to put my house in? oh and a lead lined cat basket. And a meteor interceptor to stop the fireball landing on my house?
