Bargain Alert: Blue Note 5 Original Albums Series (CD)

Apologies in advance if this has been covered before.

I've really enjoyed reading the Blue Note threads (Tone Poets etc) and as a result of looking through Amazon for some of those releases also came across this CD series.

Unlike some compilation CDs where you get a number of records spread across a double CD, this series keeps each release on its own CD with the original sleeve artwork. Yes the reproduced covers are small but you still get the sense that you're listening to a complete record.

I've gone a bit mad and bought a load of the releases but so far I think they are super value as each box set sells for £10 to £12, and each, as the title suggests, has five albums in it.

So, that's a staggering 45 albums for around £100. But, it's not about quantity. Each box set is very nicely presented and so far and to my ears the recordings sound very, very good.

I have the Herbie Hancock boxset, and I think another one, but can’t see them, so they must be hiding upstairs. The fact that they aren’t hanging out near the c.d. players may indicate that I didn’t like them, or maybe they are next to the kitchen system?
At some point I will remember this, find the boxset/s and have a focused listen.

Can't justify them all. Probably 3, but which ones. Love Jimmy Smith's Organ. Don't think I have any of those early Miles Davis LPs. Mix it up with a bit of Herbie Hancock's piano.

I know what you mean: I've had the equivalent of 45 albums delivered in the post over the last few weeks.............
