I’ll hazard a guess that they’re supposed to be keeping a careful scan for threats, not looking at the car, so keeping physical contact means they know exactly where it is, without having to look at it.

pretty sure @Sue Pertwee-Tyr is on the right track here. Being able to touch the car helps keep relative position while paying more attention to surroundings (I seem to recall they’re looking at a 10m perimeter - handgun range).

pretty sure @Sue Pertwee-Tyr is on the right track here. Being able to touch the car helps keep relative position while paying more attention to surroundings (I seem to recall they’re looking at a 10m perimeter - handgun range).

It also helps to stop you falling over.
