Your Loudspeaker history...

I should have a proper go I guess:
1983: home-made jobs while in 5th form (Audax drivers, chipboard cabs), served me well through uni.
1990-ish: small Yamaha jobs, came with Yam power amp. Alright I think, but never used on stands or with enough space, so hard to say
1994-98: JVC micro system. Yes well...
1998: B&W 601 mk2. Used in small flat, badly sited. Probably alright, but again hard to say. Sold when bought...
2001: Naim Intro 2. Chosen after auditioning against Linn, Rega and Royd alternatives. Still love 'em, warts and all.
2002: Mission 771e, on a whim. Recently rediscovered. Good in a small space.
2003: Sequence slim jobs. Not bad at all, given their physical constraints.
2003: Kef Cresta 1, for bedroom system. Lovely really, all things considered. Gave to friend. Damn.
2003: Heybrook HB1. A nostalgia buy. Disappointing. Sold.
2004: auditioned Naim Allae, but didn't feel flush enough to buy. Possibly my ideal speaker though.
2005?: Epos ELS3. Lively but not the miracle I was hoping for. Gave away.
2005: tiny Teac metal things for kitchen. Fine for the application.
2019: Dali zensor pico. Surprisingly big sound. Bought for garden office, but decided Missions worked better.
OK, who am I kidding that I don't have a problem..
(Probably I should have bought fewer cheap speakers and tried expanding the budget, too.)

Updated for July 2020....

Back to a pair of ATC SCM10s, my 3rd pair. I still have the Frugelhorns upstairs and a pair of the Veravox 5S drivers.

I loved my Castle Chesters, which I think I bought about 1991, and kept them for far too long. Eventually ended where you are with lovely D7s, acquired about 6 years ago, but skipping the intermediate steps.

There was only one intermediate step, which was the Audiovectors; the Harbeths were, and are, in a separate system. The Audiovectors were better than the Castle Chesters, which never really worked in the room (just a bit too laid-back for their own good), but the Spendors are a massive improvement on both.

PS Clearing out the loft recently, I was amazed to find the boxes for the Castle Chesters!

Some old B&O’s when I was a student
Sonus Faber Minima’s since 1993: they have survived every upgrade from Harman-Kardon 635 to Naim 552/135’s and will probably be in my living room long after me... Briefly had to make room for Sonus Faber Electa Amator II’s but the latter are now in the second system (triple the price and only half as good).
BTW I haven’t heard the new Minima’s but bad-mouths pretend they don’t have the same magic.

Well the newer Sonus Faber speakers are definitely voiced differently from the Franco Serblin era IME.

Nice taste! how do you find the Ovators vs NBL? I'm a big fan of NBL, SL2 and SBL but heard the ovators are quite different in presentation?
