Is a Garrard 301 really worth all this?
Arm stated as about £5000, ditto cartridge. Only leaves £3000 for the Garrard 301 and woodwork.Up there with the very best IMO, and certainly not outclassed by the arm or cart. No idea how it gets even close to £13k though, but I’ve no idea how much the cart is.

You are paying for time - time to make the plinth itself and time in the past to make the templates, and the cost of Festool kit.
It is all very easily achieved in a modest home workshop, but would you bother?
I’m hoping to finish my latest project over the weekend
If he's using Festool the tools probably cost more than AN Cart.
Hacking the plywood is quite doable with modest equipment, but the veneering take some non-beginner skill, and the spraying/finishing some facilities AND skill. You are paying for time - time to make the plinth itself and time in the past to make the templates, and the cost of Festool kit.

I think it would be straightforward to make "a plinth", but a good deal hard to make "that plinth" in a modest home workshop.
You require enough dry filtered air to suit the gun you intend to use. How large an area are you going to spray ? You also require extraction and a dust free environment for best results. It will cost more than you think and take you longer to learn the necessary technique to produce great results.
