Freeman (Team Sky Doctor) Found Guilty

Pretty Words...
This is big news. He's in deep doo doo and so are others by inference. In reality we still 'don't know' who or how many the testosterone patches were obtained for...

"But in a landmark decision, the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service, said it found Freeman’s claims that he had bought the drug to treat the erectile dysfunction of former British Cycling and Team Sky coach Shane Sutton were “implausible”."

I tell you what, if after all of the flat out denial and inferred offence taken at said accusations by a certain retired British rider, it turns out to be him after all, well...

I hope for his sake it definitely isn't him now.

The French have always thought many of our elite cyclists are/were on the juice, seems like they were right

Le pot kettle noir ... as they say in France.
In an earlier generation , I saw their adoration of the disgraced Virenque, Leblanc ,Jalabert, etc. and their hatred of the clean Boardman who they called "The Robot" because his trainer relied on science.

Next week it will be decided if he is fit to practice as a Doctor. I'd have to say i have my doubts as to whether he will be renewing his GMC subscriptions.
He looks to have lost it all but doesn't seem to be trying to throw anyone under the bus. The Shane Sutton allegations were bizarre and entirely implausible given the availability of Viagra etc.
Dr Freeman is clearly a troubled individual, I say that just from reading the reports of the adjourned hearings, surely if there is anything in the Jiffy Bag allegations he would have been better off saying, Yes I did it, I have mental health issues. Let me sort them out and get back to work as a Doctor?
Clearly the patches were ordered for a rider. Will we ever find out who? The inquiry said they were for an unnamed rider not an unknown rider. We do deserve to know.

Testosterone is available for men who are deficient in the male hormone. They may also need viagra like drugs to treat erectile dysfunction.

Cycling has always been dodgy, Faustino Coppi, doped back in the forties and fifties but doping wasn’t illegal then.

Tommy Simpson died up on Mont Ventoux after taking a heart attack because of drugs and alcohol and wiggins’ father was supplying the peloton with drugs back in the eighties in fact he died because of drug misuse and was either assaulted or hit his head whilst drunk .

Alcohol was the drug of choice for tour cyclists there’s video footage of the back up riders going into cafes along the tour route and filling up their pockets with bottles of beer and spirits.

Football was the same some players, such as Paul gasgoinge, downed half’s of whisky before the match started.

The quantity in question suggests that it wasnt a single recipient.

Footballers, for example, from the 60s onwards, used to play with an 'injection in the knee', it left them with crippling arthritis. Professional sport is impossible without drugs - but what is acceptable?

I've no doubt that football is as dodgy as hell anyone who thinks football is a clean sport hasn't been paying attention.

I'm convinced Lionel Messi has been doping for years, allegedly.

Regarding cycling even Eddie Merkxx, the greatest cyclist the world has ever seen was caught and banned in 1969 and even towards the end of his career it was obvious that he was taking something to keep him going.

Boardman was in our local cycling club - I think I know why he quit pro road racing, more money in bike design - he always was clean

Such a shame for the sport, but yes everyone’s at it.

a few of you mentioned football and drug taking... Are there ever checks for the players? I’ve never heard of a footballer being doped.

edit - aha, thanks Andrew..

if you haven’t seen it, Icarus on Netflix is an amazing insight into the Sochi Olympics and the lengths the Russians went to.

I don't know him, eight years younger than me, but a lot of my neighbours and friends do. Went to the local comp. He's a smart guy. Bought this first house in Hoylake, lived in West Kirby until recently. Moved a few miles down the estuary. Yes I believe he's clean.
