Post-Trump: Biden President Elect II (Trump tantrums, riots etc)

He's against Medicare for all even though around 80% of Democratic voters want it. This during a deadly pandemic that has decimated millions of lives. If he stood in the UK with such policies he'd be ridiculed more than Farage.

But because he's not Trump, people try to see good. There is none! He's just as much in hock to power. Harris even more so.

Research further what the US is actually changing wrt Yemen. Very little.

They're still trying to destroy Venezuela. No sign they'll go back in the Iran deal. They've sent more troops to Syria. The new Secretary Of State is one of the biggest warmongers in Washington.

It's an oligarchy! People need to stop being happy with the crumbs they're thrown, often symbolic, designed to assuage people as the rape of the country continues.

The UK is going the same way. You see it Drood. Due to money in politics.

Red Vs blue allegiance helps to keep it all going.
Sort of. But the US left has been able to nudge Biden in the right direction on several key issues, and they aren't being booted out of the party.

In the UK, Starmer has declared war on the left and broken all 10 (Corbynite) pledges he made in his leadership campaign.

As a result, there's a significant possibility that the Labour Party will end up to the right of the Tories on economics, and maybe other policy areas too.

Genuine question: how has the true left (or whatever) reacted to Biden's decision to withdraw support for US allies in Yemen. Unless I'm missing the fine print, it seems like an unequivocally good thing.

I'm trying to understand the logic here...Trump was good because he tried to repeal the ACA and replace it with nothing, but Biden is bad because he's against medicare-for-all and improve on the ACA.

Max, why would you think anyone gives a flying **** about what you think. You’ve demonstrated on multiple occasions, particularly with your Trump support, that your judgement and intellect are laughably, ridiculously, compromised. You disappeared from the forum for a long time, presumably hiding in embarrassment. Please do so again.

Good riddance.

Oh dear, what a pity, never mind.

Satan mumbles, “Damn, there goes the neighborhood.”

Not correct. The only reason Biden's not pushing Medicare for all is because they'll never get the legislation past the senate.

Tony, I suspect you already know this, but for others it probably deserves stating that Biden's position on healthcare hasn't changed since the campaign. He supports "Medicare for all (who want it)", meaning he supports adding a public option to the ACA. In other words, he supports a relatively slow transition to public insurance that doesn't end private insurance options overnight. This transition is based, of course, on the presumption that public insurance will be perceived as better coverage with lower premiums.

He could sign an executive order anytime. And what better time than now?

Of course he won't because he's bought by people who don't want to see free healthcare, because they profit off the backs of the average American who pays extortionate money for healthcare. These people have been funding him for 40 years. They'll fund his successor, and the one after that, and....

A floor vote on Medicare for all might pass. If it didn't at least people would see which senators voted against it on record, during a deadly pandemic, and could not vote them in again.

The so-called Squad could have forced this floor vote recently by denying their support to Pelosi in her bid to become speaker once again unless she pledged a floor vote on Medicare for all. Force the vote as it was called was being pushed by the genuine left, but every single one of the squad voted for Pelosi without extracting anything from her. And each one of them ran on the promise of fighting to provide Medicare for all. They didn't fight, because they're celebrities now, on the face of Vanity Fair etc, doing interviews in trendy mags and loving life. They wouldn't want to lose their special status by doing what they were voted in to do.

The Young Turks did a poll of their own YouTube viewers. Around 87% of them said they supported force the vote. But the Young Turks did not support it.

They took $20m in 'funding' a few years ago from a guy called Jeffrey Katzenberg, who's a major Democratic donor.

Now they're essentially MSNBC/CNN but on YouTube. Just like another wing of the Democratic party.

This is what money does.

By the way the Squad are members of the Justice Democrats, a group actually set up by Cenk Uyger of the Young Turks and Kyle Kulisnski of Secular Talk, another YouTube show. He's the guy in the vid above talking about Biden's Yemen policy.

The number 1 priority of the Justice Democrats was Medicare for all. It was the main mission, yet not one of the Justice Democrats fought for it when they had the power, before Pelosi was re-elected.

You'll probably see someone come along soon to explain that they couldn't risk holding their vote for Pelosi in case a Republican speaker got elected. This is not true, it's the narrative spun by those, including The Young Turks to provide cover for them. It's a lie in other words.

Money....

Representative Ocasio-Cortez believes that in the richest country on earth, no person should suffer because they cannot afford healthcare. That is why she is an unapologetic advocate of Medicare for All, which would create a universal, single payer healthcare system. In this system, every single person in America would have access to high-quality and consistent healthcare.

Additionally, Representative Ocasio-Cortez believes that all people must have access to safe and affordable prescription medications. With support from local advocates, Representative Ocasio-Cortez and the Congressional Oversight and Government Reform Committee investigated the pharmaceutical corporation Gilead’s pricing for an HIV prevention drug known as Truvada for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). As a result of these efforts, a generic version of PrEP will be available a year earlier than planned.

Representative Ocasio-Cortez believes that healthcare is a human right and will continue to fight for every person to have access to high-quality and consistent care. For more information on the healthcare related legislation Representative Ocasio-Cortez supports, please click here.
