Ok ..... 5 perfect albums with no duffers, fillers, best ofs or misses

Another 5 albums pop pickers :D

'SF Sorrow'- The Pretty Things.

'All Mod cons'- The Jam.

' The Stone Roses-The Stone Roses.'

'Solid Air'- John Martyn.

'Who's next'- The Who.

:)

Neil Young - Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
Neil Young - On The Beach
Neil Young - Tonight's The Night
Neil Young - Zuma
Neil Young - Ragged Glory

I've already answered this once saying only three albums come anywhere near (and none of them are in fact perfect) - but I've recently realised Bossanova comes closeish too. My favourite album (Hejira) would be perfect if A Strange Boy had been left off. Less is more sometimes, Joni.

Terminals - Disconnect (EP)
Terminals - Uncoffined
Terminals - Touch
Terminals - Last Days of the Sun (just makes it, I think)
Terminals - Antiseptic

RIP Peter Stapleton, drummer and lyricist extraordinaire. I knew him, Horatio. I regret that before he died, I didn't tell him how much I appreciated his work.

...Bossanova...

A few that I've not seen mentioned:

Death Cab for Cutie - Plans
Dire Straits - Communique
Stereophonics - Performance and Cocktails
The Cure - Disintegration
The National - Trouble will find me

Capt. Beefheart/Magic Band - Safe As Milk
Capt. Beefheart/Magic Band - Trout Mask Replica
Capt. Beefheart/Magic Band - Shiny Beast
Velvet Underground & Nico - "Banana Album"
Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat

Captain Beefheart

The Mirror Man Sessions
Trout Mask Replica
Clear Spot
The Spotlight Kid
Doc at the Radar Station

5 is a bit mean.

Alright then at a push here is a list of my 5 but no guarantees I'm going to stick with this next week.

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (or DSOTM, but I'd only be allowed one Floyd)
Steve Mason - Monkey Minds in the Devils Time
Beatles - Abbey Road
Manu Chao - Clandestino
Madness - One Step Beyond

I've already had a go a few months ago but never mind.;)

Prefab Sprout - Steve McQueen
Joni Mitchell - Hejira
The Pineapple Thief - Your Wilderness
John Martyn - One World
Michael Kiwanuka - Kiwanuka

Horslips-The book of Invasions
Van Halen-Self Titled
Boston-Self Titled
Sade-Diamond Life
Deep Purple- Made in Japan
Currently having a Horslips fest in the study while doing some work related stuff. I've discovered a track I don't own on an LP, Shamrock Shore. Rather nice, and a bit more introspective than their more typical Warm Sweet Breath and Trouble type offerings that are just straightforward bits of rock and roll.

This is a hard one but I think the following are career bests - or close to - and don’t have any fillers. There are other albums by some of these artists that I prefer but they are flawed by excess or lazy/duff tracks. Interesting that only one is from the cd era - Aimee Mann - but it could easily be a single vinyl album - the longest of its 13 tracks is under 4 minutes.

Led Zeppelin - Fourth album
Ry Cooder - Paradise and Lunch
Aimee Mann - @#%&-! Smilers
Donald Fagen - The Nightfly
Rod Stewart - Every Picture Tells a Story

Hope it's ok to have my second 5 by now ;)

Steely Dan: Pretzel Logic
Jackson Browne: The Pretender
Dylan: Love and theft
Traffic: Mr Fantasy
Cohen: I'm your man.

I was a big fan back in the day and live, The Horslips were excellent. Very different from anything else on the circuit. 'The book of invasions was their best work'. I played it recently on an early vinyl pressing and was surprised as to how good sonically this album is.

Leonard Cohen Recent Songs
Bob Dylan Joh Wesley Harding
Brian Eno and John Cale Wrong Way Up
John Cale Paris 1919
REM Automatic for the People
Beck Sea Change
