And what does that cost the club? How about being forced to forfeit the match instead, that would stop it happening again! Penalties for many things in football (racism, hooliganism) are insufficient IMO.

Deducting points when a game can't be played due to virus infections sets up a tricky precedent, not least for a team facing relegation with little hope of beating say Celtic getting 3 points which surrounding teams might think a bit unfair. Fining clubs might work, but that doesn't apply to any other organisation. You couldn't fine a hospital because a nurse caught the virus in a restaurant.

Doubtful. The proposed takeover of the club is not by the Saudi govt so this is not sufficient legally to stop the deal going ahead. If it was, the PL would have formally rejected it on those grounds rather than do nothing in the hope it will go away. What is happening is a restriction of trade/competition caused by pressure by a few other PL clubs that tell their puppet how high to jump.
With the challenges now being made by politicians at a local level it will take a bit longer for it to go away. As you say, money talks and this is worth many millions in investment in the NE region.
I understand supporters of other clubs being against the deal but they make me laugh when they speak of human rights etc. It’s a pathetic lack of honesty.

City controlled last nights game quite easily imo, don't think Ramos would have made a great deal of difference to the result. City didn't allow Real to be any good. Always amusing when a team gets beat they were poor and opposition only adequate
I felt this, much as Macmanaman bemoaned the loss of Ramos as pivotal. A team like Real is not, or should not, be dependent on one player and the venom of the press, especially early on from Foden, Jesus and Sterling was more of a factor, in my opinion.
