Really great soundtracks

Funnily enough (given that this thread has just been resurrected after 7 years?) I've been listening to a few soundtracks lately that I'd posted in the "what are you listening to" thread.

"The Conversation" by David Shires is possibly my favourite soundtrack - it evokes the storyline of the film, but also stands alone as a great album.
"Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai", produced by RZA is another of my favourites.
"Wonderboys" is an enjoyable listen, but, like "The Big Lebowski", which I also enjoy, it's a collection of songs rather than a 'soundtrack' as such... so it depends how much of a purist you want to be about it all.
"Amelie" is a lovely soundtrack, but not the abomination-version that added words and singing to the tracks! Not for me at all, that one.

Did you get a vinyl copy of The Conversation yet?

It is a pleasant item.

i like the score's Nick Cave and Warren Ellis do. The Assassination of Jesse James and The Road spring to mind.

The soundtrack to the film "I'm Not There" is a two disc beauty.

John Barry's OUT OF AFRICA.

Watched it again over the weekend. One of the most epic scores ever written.

Plus others they've done too that I find are nice to have on in the background.

Never seen the film but someone gave me a copy of 'Cooley High' on vinyl as a kid, it was a great introduction to some Motown Classics.

Cheers BB
