Beer at home

Err.. that would be Klaatu Barada Niktu..

You've just ordered the Patagonian Capybara Milk Beer..... which is an acquired taste.... ;)
Oops! Didn't look it up before typing, should have done. But actually, we're both wrong. I was correct about 'nikto' (it's not 'niktu') but you're right about 'barada'. But you're not correct about the caps, apart from Klaatu, which is his name. :p

The beer's arriving tomorrow, apparently. I'll report back...

For any lager drinkers.. Tesco have 12 x 330ml Sol for £7, 20 x 300ml Budweiser for £10. Apologies to the seasoned bitter drinkers!

Contactless delivery arrived from my (very local) brewery :)

A few from Aldi today, Iconic, Caesar Augustus, Seven Giraffes, Perfect storm and Joker IPA, all brewed by Williams Bros.

Hatherwood Purple Panther Porter, from Lidl. 5% and very tasty. It's solid. It's just the sort of thing that goes down well with a now out of fashion Ploughmans Lunch. Whatever happened to the PL? It was a staple of pub food. I was always a fan of a decent PL.

Blimey, Pompey Royal! There's a blast from the past. That was the last decent beer that Whitbread badged. I think the last time I had a pint of Pompey it was brewed for them by Gales (RIP)

Ploughmans lunches. It's funny Mrs S was recently perusing the fridge and pulled out a large chunk of mature cheddar and said why don't we have a ploughmans?

I agree a good PL accompanied by a good pint of Pompey or maybe Ruddles County (from when it was brewed in Oakham) was an excellent inexpensive meal.

If it's on a pub menu now it's just a cheese salad.

p.s. mrs s managed to fill the Summer Lightning void in my beer stash this week. The bottles will have been in the red zone for a few days so ready to quaff safely at the weekend.

Karmaliet Tripel for me tonight.

8.4% should do it.

A quick quote -

“Often called the best Tripel in the world, Tripel Karmaliet has one endless awards. It’s brewed using barley, wheat and oats which give it a smooth mouthfeel and more complex malt body. On top of that the brewery layers banana-like esters from the yeast and a little hop spiciness that adds a quinine-like dryness to the finish. A stunning example of the style.”

Hi Seagull.

Yes, I think it might be Ed (the brewer) homage to the Whitbread ale brewed over near the Dockyard.
At several times through the current crisis he's run some small batch brews.
Here's the latest (not quite as strong as Rug Doc's above).

Dave.

During the mini heat wave, I was enjoying Savanna Dry (South African cider). The perfect drop in the warm sunshine pre BBQ, slips down far too easily! Back to Proper Job tonight. If the weather turns tomorrow, Broadside.

My wife located some Augustiner Hellas and Edelstoff at one of the specialist beer places today so I am looking forward to a couple of those later.

Beer related- I passed my local today and the Greene King wagon was outside making a delivery, do they know something we don't?
