Takeaways

Deliveroo gave me a 50% off voucher last weekend so I had no choice but to have my first take away of the year, but that's due to my new fitness regime rather than CV. I was averaging five a week towards the end of last year!
I am reliably informed that Deliveroo (and, probably, Uber Eats) charge the takeaway a 35% 'commission' and gives the driver peanuts. I'll never use them, that's a business model that needs to be killed.

Once in a blue moon I might order a dominos if I am particularly lazy. I cook most nights...for myself....and my pensioner mother if she is hungry (so thats every night) and calls over. If it can't be made from scratch and on the table in 20 or so I am not really interested.

77 and mad as a box of cats eggs!
Can I come for dinner pleeeeeese. I will do the washing up.

Indian and Chinese takeaways are not the most hygienic of places at any time let alone now. I dont suppose they practice safe distancing if they are not in the same family and the kitchens tend to be quiet small. Dont suppose they quarantine food that has been delivered.
Only, and all, Indian and Chinese take-aways? How do you claim to know that?

Steve, my favourite Kashmiri restaurant is Akbars, on Leeds Road, Bradford. You wouldn't know if they're doing take-aways, would you?
I checked. Yes they are, free delivery 3 miles. Aagrah, near there (top of Jack Lane, just off the enormous roundabout, near the Odeon Cinema) is the same and offers its buffet. Shezzaan's (correct spelling this time, I checked) on Galloway Lane, Pudsey and 5 minutes from my front door is also doing takeaway. I think they may be bringing it in from the other resto, in Bradford as I haven't seen the kitchen staff coming and going.

I picked up a takeaway menu from my newly reopened local curry house last night - and resisted the temptation to order something.

I was away at RAF Brize Norton last week for three days/two nights. Not an ideal situation, but a contract to meet. No hotels, no restaurants. Had to stay in Gateway House which is a large hotel type of building on the base, but it’s only intended to accommodate people for one night if they’re flying out the next morning, for example. So no telly, no table, uncomfortable bed, shared toilets and showers. Bored. In the extreme, even with devices, book and mags. Paper thin walls too.

The mess is cheap but, I’ll be diplomatic, not to the standard I cook at home. One veggie option, no fish. It was stodge.

So I grabbed an Indian takeaway from Curry Paradise in Witney. Very nice, have had a couple of sit downs there in the last year. Only problem being that Cameron’s photo was everywhere as he has frequented it.

I am reliably informed that Deliveroo (and, probably, Uber Eats) charge the takeaway a 35% 'commission' and gives the driver peanuts. I'll never use them, that's a business model that needs to be killed.

35% is correct for Delieveroo.

We might have a KFC as a treat every few weeks but apart from that we're not that big on takeaways. They're usually dear, invariably incredibly salty and we can generally do better ourselves.

That said, when I find myself leaving Heathrow at 7am after a long-haul overnight flight, my car manages to play some sort of Jedi mind trick on me by depositing me at Fleet Services on the M3 and implanting the thought into my head that I need a Double Sausage and Egg McMuffin meal. Apart from this, I wouldn't be seen dead in McDonalds!

Fish and chips as a rare treat; maybe three or four times a year. One Chinese takeaway when staying at my sister's a few years back (way too salty for my taste). One KFC when our daughters were nippers and nagged us to buy one (I was very ill afterwards, but not necessarily because of the KFC). Have been in Macdonalds a few times for take-away coffees, but have never ate any of their food.

I have takeaways as frequently as I want them.

Differs from every other day, weekly, fortnightly, or monthly dependant on my personal circumstances at the time (workload, having a 2 year old child to look after etc).

Whether other people think that is too much or too little is irrelevant to me.

Left to my own devices I'd probably have no more than one or two takeaways a year, as generally I don't really enjoy them much. When we're feeling lazy we tend to pop down the pub and grab a meal there, but that's obviously not possible right now. But we have two kids here (well, one is 20 but a student) who love their pizza so 3 or 4 of them have been delivered to the house in the last 6 weeks, though I've only partaken twice. Last one was last night - it was 'OK' but a bit too oily and a bit too salty and I had to drink a couple of pints of water after to wash that dirty feeling out of my mouth :D

I bet those who’ve been taken by this virus weren’t plumbed into their ventilators wishing they’d eaten fewer takeaways.
