Country and Western

and worst of all pedal steel guitar....

As with any instrument you just need to stick it through a fuzz box and a few other FX pedals to get some truly amazing stuff. This video will unquestionably change your mind about the instrument, plus highlight the fact its actually on many of your favourite records!

The Tibetan nose flute is no doubt a great rock lead instrument if passed through The Edge's effects rack!

A subtle bit of pedal steel, if used tastefully by the likes of Little Feat, The Delines or maybe a Rhiannon Giddens can be tolerable. In full on Tammy Wynette weaponized role though it's the most saccharine thing since a Tate & lyle karaoke night!

Pontiac is a classic. The follow up is good too.

Indeed! When I was a wee sprout, I saw LL on the "...and His Large Band" tour in my hometown of Phoenix, Arizona. (Which, incidentally, is also the hometown of Francine Reed, who sings on the album. It was a great show.)

Saw Lucinda's name mentioned above, been playing this nearly every week for years and it always sounds wonderful.
