£100 speakers. What would you buy?

Few ideas https://www.hifihangar.co.uk/blog/budget-giant-killer-speakers

Have had a few pairs that I rated - JPW Mini Monitors, Mission 700 Mk2 or Denon aka Mission SCM-50 off the Bay for £40-50

Best modern ones so far for me Mission LX2 from Richers at £100 but seem to be £150 now, still have them just in case - saw off a few pairs mich dearer, eventually replaced by ProAc 115.

Dali Zensor 1 or Rega RS1/R1 are a good shout, regret selling my RS1.

Thanks everyone.... My faves so far:
The Rega RS1 - seem just out of reach
Dali Zensor 1 - again cant see any in budget just now.
Mission LX2 - Seem to have gone up
Usher S520 - I should be so lucky
Looks like a pair of the older missions might be on the cards - they are indeed cheap and plentiful :)
Also the cold beer and curry sounds great!!

Nice budget amp there, by the way, Darren. The same model I had with my first system, or very similar. I moved on to olive Naim, but the Rotel was a stepping stone in that direction in the way it sounds, and better than the somewhat more expensive options I tried at the time. The Mordaunt Shorts I recommended earlier were partnered with that amp, but I’m nodding at a lot of the other suggestions too, including the older Missions (haven’t heard the newer ones).

Celestion 9, a three way standmount speaker, easy to drive, very much underrated IMHO, great with a Creek amp or indeed a Rotel

Another vote for the Dali Zensor 1. Very nice and balanced sounding speaker and at the price, you can't fault it. I auditioned the Zensor 1 and Mentor Menuet at the dealers before picking the latter but the Zensor 1 was very close to the Mentor Menuet in performance, just losing out a little in refinement and composure at high levels. Recommended.

If you're anywhere near Cardiff I've got a pair of 1969-vintage full range speakers - Wharfedale Super 10 gold edition drivers in home-made cabs, they're not aesthetically pleasing, but they're gloriously efficient, and I'm looking to move them along. As I'm doing an emergency flat tidy-up (imminent dog-proofing) they must go... and are on the list of kit that I must ebay/gumtree in the very near future. I think you'll find yourself pleasantly surprised by the sound, and the price.

So many out there! Along with all mentioned thus far....
Tannoy Mercury mki
AR22
Castle Durham, Pembroke, Isis, etc.
Maybe some early AVI Neutrons at a squeeze.

Personally ..I would go leftfield and buy something that you will find use for again and again after the decorating is long finished. It is also much more practical to move from room to room ........ or in the garden/garage/on a picnic/in a hotel when travelling........

( yes, it is over budget but is worth the extra )

If you just want some noise whilst decorating just pop into a British Heart Foundation furniture store, they have a little section of electrics including speakers of various quality for 15 or so quid.

As per, Mission 760i, SE, or even 780's probably within budget; all great.

Also NAD 8225, my face budget box, and MS 20 hard to criticise for all round ability. Both have much nicer top end than the Missions.

Something you won't mind getting paint splatters on and can be moved out of the way easily.

I'd second a pair of original Wharfedale Diamonds, awesome fun little beasts and wot I use for decorating as someone long ago emulsioned them white.

The Mission 760i (the 'i' was definitely an improvement) for fun or if you can get a cheap pair of 780 then a bit more civilised for longer term.

MS10 or MS20 did classical better than missions but were less fun with Rock/Pop/Dance.

Thanks to everyone..... I have several pairs on my radar now. I'm still drawn to budget new ones since I dislike second hand things as a rule but some very nice options out there. I'll let you know what I end up with!
