Freeview SD is awful.
The other day I watched Mr Bean, as funny as I remembered but oh the picture!
It looks far worse than when first watched back in the days.
Wilfull misunderstanding... often employed in BBC replies to complaints I make.It will look worse to be honest. You're watching a picture that has been selectively decimated by the content of the other channels on the same DTV multiplex and the frugality of the channel owner to pay for bandwidth. You're also probably watching it on a huge (by the standards of the day the programme was made) progressive display that has to interpolate 4:3 interlaced TV. Most SDTV looks awful on modern TVs, and don't get me started on the content that has been bought cheaply that originated in the US on film, got pulled-up to NTSC frame rates that standards converted to PAL.
This is one part of my day job for better or worse, make a complaint to the channel - most of them do at least look at the content they've broadcast if someone complains about it. Except the BBC it seems. I complained about the frame rate conversion in a BBC4 documentary that had archive footage in it and explicitly mentioned that it wasn't the archive footage I was complaining about, but the normal content around it which appears to be a US program but converted by someone who didn't have a clue. They gave me the crap about the quality of the archived footage...
I'll take 2.If you *really* want to improve your 4G broadband reception (and impress your neighbours at the same time) you have a week left to bid on an Emley Moor mast.

Don't get a hang up on BB speed. For most people 5 to 10Mbps is enough providing it is consistent i.e. no drop outs speed drops etc.
The only downside is my IT son for my last birthday fixed me up with a raspberry PI and large hard drive to, ahem, use programs like Deluge. Can't find this on my network now, so he'll sort me out at christmas, unless its sortable over the phone holding my hand.
This is more an FYI for others having issues with very poor broadband as I've found that 4G is a very good alternative.
4G router - I'm using the Huwaei B525 (300 Mbps) I'm getting around double the bandwidth with this over the one EE supplied.
Do you think it is fair then?
Here for € 35 we have 4 Mbps (no TV) when in the next village 25 Mbps are available for the exact same fee, with many bundled additional services.
We should pay less, that's rip-off.
