Help sourcing correct eyelet thingies

I want to use 3mm phenolic board to build a little project on and I want to drill the board to take through hole components. I'd like to use the equivalent of via's that you get on PCB's and be able to take up to 14 gauge wire (approx 1.8mm). That way I can solder the component wires to the eyelets to hold them in place rather than using hot melt glue or tie-wraps so hopefully it'll look a bit neater. Looking on ebay all I could come up with are the eyelet things you use on fabric (leather etc) but I don't think these will work with 3mm thick board (even a struggle with 2mm board). Anyone done something similar and have a source for these things? And I also need the correct tool to fix the eyelets in place.
