You are taking this thread much too seriously. It is just a thread for willy waving and it matters not what willy you wave.

It's Hi-Fi porn bling Jim... it's not real life you know.
This is the first time someone accuses me of taking this thread to serious. :D
As for real life; mine is Hi-Fi porn bling baby

That Sony unit is so cool looking. How does it sound?

I agree :D

It sounds great. I have a lot of DSD Classical music downloads and I love how it sounds with strings. It’s superb with headphones too. I also have the Sony Z1R matching headphones and the amplifier seems to be very clear and smooth. I think they might have recently discontinued the Sony Signature Series, but there’s a TA-ZH1ES on eBay right now. I’d only trade up for something like a dCS or Merging DAC.

Rega Kyte doing living room duty with new @Markie grills. These were in pretty dismal shape when I received them, but Kiwi shoe polish does a fine job of tidying up the scratches and restoring some luster to the standard 90s British black ash veneer. They're seated on Brightstar IsoNodes and powered by a Topping TP22 amp and streaming from a Muzo Airplay streamer generously gifted by @DimitryZ. The bass is significantly better than the cheap streamer I used to run, and could probably be improved significantly again with a DAC, but my plan at the moment is to upgrade to the new Sonos Amp in the near future.

I've noticed on several system pics that people have their kit placed in front of radiators. Is this OK? I have always avoided it because it might "dry out", and the one time I did have kit in front of a rad (a Rega Mira and a Cyrus CDP) it developed some very crackly connections. Or was that just a coincidence? In the picture above what about the vinyl anyway?

Radiators mainly heat upwards, I don’t feel any significant heating effect 15cm away from them. The equipment doesn’t feel warm to the touch - even when switched on the valve amp still has a slightly cool metal feel to it. As you can see in my system, the equipment has lots of space above it and that’s the most important thing. Someone messaged me about that a while ago, seems a somewhat common hand-wringer for some. Same thing with the vinyl, it doesn’t feel warm 15cm away so I don’t see any issue.

My Croft RIAA phono stage is not here at the moment because I need a new stylus for the deck.

Only a basic rug attempt here.

Sony fan-boy reporting in...your DAC / headphone rig is making me feel slightly envious. Dig the Leben too.

I've been using Sony headphones and portables steadily since my first Walkman Pro in the early 90's. I'm now using an Astell&Kern AK120 as a transport into a Sony PHA-3 DAC/amp feeding Sony MDR-Z7 headphones. It's digital luxuriousness of the highest order....well almost. I'm quite happy.

BTW...what is the Sony portable face down to the right of the DAC?

What's your thoughts on the TT? I've seen a few at good prices and been tempted but it's still a pro-ject at the end of the day and I'm still not sure.

It’s a lovely deck. Looks a lot more expensive than it is and sounds very good all round. Easy to change the stylus from the 2M Silver, to a 2M Blue for an upgrade. Bit of a bargain, I’d say.

Having said that I’m considering a significant upgrade to the new Rega Planar 8, so it might be available for sale soon.

It’s the Sony NW-WM1A Signature Series Walkman. I’ve got a 400gb micro SD card inside. It has balanced output for the Z1R headphones. A recent firmware update allows it to function as a Bluetooth receiver and also added a ‘vinyl processor’ which adds various disortiob artefacts to mimic vinyl sound!
