What's the fuss about? :) FDAC its definitely worth the wait! In JohnW (and his team :) ) we believe! :)

Happy Easter after Easter :)

That would be great. I can put HDMI extract in one FDAC and Sub outputs in the second FDAC.

Just one thing, the name, 'DIC'? really?

How about Digital Expansion Card, 'DEC'. Should remove any misinterpretation :D
I mean - all they have to do is to make the PCB somewhat more "narrow" and DIC fits it perfectly. That is, until it encounters a male connector on the main PCB, then it's going to get weird.

Cable attached, Input on Imac says Digital in, but nothing to record while playing Music over USB.
Any ideas how to check the connection is correct?

As far as I know it is optical out only on everything apple. But still does not make sense wanting input
Think you need to eloborate what you are trying to achieve.

It be cheaper to use a single card with both HDMI & DAC options fitted.

DIC's well you know... no need to be shy :D

DEX is an internal Digital Expansion card where the PMD200 can be installed or other future options.

Jarek and Thomas are really struggling with getting the display operational - I'm pretty sure that there are a few things (hardware interface + Linux drivers / setting) not correct, we are chasing our tails here so Jarek will Bit-Bang the panel directly from a fast processor (XMOS) to first confirm the panel operates (I dont trust the Chinese Datasheets / panel design).

Its my experience that there will be something "odd" with the panel operation - typical with Chinese designed components. One oddity is that the panel is 480x800 rather then 800x480, not a problem as we can flip this in software but typical of what to expect...

I hope that Jarek will have some good news very soon once he drives the panel via a simple processor (the XMOS is a pig of a device, but atleast we have the speed so we can directly bit bang the panel) rather then having the extra complexities of Linux / ARM hardware - atleast he will know how to drive the panel correctly via hardware & have a better understanding of the LCD Driver IC"s MANY internal registers.

I can already hear Jarek saying "those idiots" why did they do this... after many years of working in China nothing surprises me anymore - in fact I EXPECT to be unpleasantly "surprised"!

I am just worried how it would look on my Paypal statement. "payment for one DIC" :D

Anyhow, so I guess DIC it is then.

The MDAC2 project is not going to happen. It's been replaced by the FDAC.

So what about the payments I have transferred for the MDAC2?
What am I to do now? Can I get some information by JohnW regarding the NEW FDAC and what do I ****ing do with the MDAC now?
The Insolence to have the customers wait for so long and not get any notification or emails, I don't know what to do now.

What now?

Dadab12,

The change to the project (MDAC2 to FDAC) is that we now supply the DAC fully built and tested so you dont need to salvage / modify your MDAC.

You have have been automatically transferred to the FDAC project - its only a change of name it indicate the custom chassis / PSU / Display etc.

This changed happen last August with constant project updates posted here on PFM - PFM is our main point of communication's concerning the project.

I'm sorry that it appears you are unaware of change as the communications for this project has ALWAYS been via PFM, this is a forum based project, the changed happen in August last year.

Your last communications concerning the project was in Dec, since the change to FDAC:-

We have you down as having paid the development instalments for the FDAC L2 and no further development payments are required for L2 Spec units.

Your last communication here on PFM was in December - the change to FDAC happened in August, so this is not a recent change.

The chassis / PSU and display costs an extra GBP280 so you can either sell your MDAC for GBP280 and put the funds towards the chassis cost, or keep the MDAC as you will be hard pressed to find a better DAC for GBP280...

For those who REALLY cannot afford the extra GBP280, or cannot sell there MDAC for GBP280 then by arrangement I will directly exchange there MDAC for the FDAC Chassis etc. so you occur no extra cost.

Obviously I would like to keep such "exchanges" to a minimum as I don't have the resources to handle them on mass...

I paid 400 pounds for the L2 Spec Unit so far is that correct?
It's pretty funny that you do not have a refund policy especially when you change the whole project.
Anyhow, I'm not a tech savvy and I have no idea how to discern between the differences of the L2 and the L3, can you please explain to me what is the major differences between the two?
