The guy who writes this blog has also released an excellent book on colour. It's been out for a while in Russian and he's finally had it translated into English. There's much literature on B&W but colour gets neglected.

Superb! They seem to be much sharper and have greater depth of field than the usual Autochromes that you see from the same period.

I think it reflects a time when having a photograph taken was a red letter day.

The reason is because they are made by taking three b&w photos of the same scene through red, green and blue filters. So 'normal' film could be used rather than the starch grained based Autochrome film.

The big advantage Autochrome had was that the colour image could be printed, rather than having to be projected.

These are great photographs, and I love the look of Autochromes too.
