Vinyl wrap speaker cabinets advice please

blossomchris

I feel better than James Brown
Has anyone out there attempted the above? I feel sure someone has
but a search was not helpful

Also I need this in ivory/cream colour. I can only source white on ebay

Any advice gratefully received as wife has threatened to bar speakers if we
re-locate

Cheers

I don't think vinyl ever looks good. So I suggest you fill, prime, and finish with lots of sanding and a tack rag. Then apply the colour and finish of your choice. I've just picked up an old pair of speakers and will remove the drivers then refinish the once nice veneer cabs with a high-gloss white or black.

Tell her you'll re-locate her...

No chance. She is the only one of us who has a pension
A quality finish applied by brush would be difficult to achieve in my experience. Staining or french polishing is far easier. To obtain a finish with paint the only way is to spray.

Iron-on veneer might be a better option. You can get all sorts of wood - American White Oak is pretty light

Please post pics when you've wrapped!

Nearest I have got to wrapping so far is my recent thread in music re. Public Enemy.
I need to find out a tad more before attempting this, and pictures would only
follow if procedure was sucessfull.

There is a company called Grafityp www.grafityp.co.uk who do a massive range of vinyl wrap (primarily for cars etc.). I've used vinyl to cover projects before and found it reasonably easy.

Thanks YNWOAN.

I think I have enough info, thanks everyone. Now it is just a matter of
working with a new material and finesse is not my strong point, but my brother has
wrapped a couple of dashboards in his time and is offering to help me (hurrah!)
