Vince,
I like the VPI16.5 on its own dedicated stand. Does it clean deeper on M**a :p
You seem to ahve a fair amount of cleaning solutions in there, too. Any favourites?

Hey Joel,

After painstaking double blind comparisons, I determined that the VPI 16.5 to work its best on a Targ... They probably aren't gonna buy that are they? When I switched the system from tube based two channel to Meridian multichannel the new boxes simply took up a little less real estate. I came out of it with a spare Target rack and a s**tload of leftover BDR cones and pucks. The rack I found a use for. Hmmm, maybe the VPI would work even better with $500 bucks worth of carbon composite feet under it!

Happy Trails!

Vince,
I don't think they're going to buy that, no :D
If you put those carbon foot thingies under your VPI, it will really screw up the rhythm & timing.
You may have started something...

Dear Mr Hostile - you should try swapping the SCap off the prefix and on to the SNAXO (you will need to borrow a burndy) and see what you prefer.

What;s your room like? I'm curious - all that Mana and granite under the SBL's - what does it do? I have phase 1 Mana under my SBL's once and couldn't enjoy it, but I imagine your set up must do something else?

Incidentally, I'm not sure a Troika is an upgrade to the Arkiv B (esp if the Troika is a rebuild) - well it wasn't on my Aro. Is not possible for you to send the Arkiv to Lyra (they made it orginally) for a proper rebuild.

regards

Dev

Hi Dev

The Trokia came along as a cheaper option(was completely rebuilt by Goldring)just as my Arkiv died, i'm in the process of saving for a Akiva, but the Trokia will do for the time being,at least i can play vinyl now.

I was thinking of changing the Supercap to the Snaxo and see what the results where.(already own the burndy, future upgrade)

Room size: 17' 6'' x 13' x 7'6''

The Granite and Mana help control the bass boom this room suffers from, also helps in a major way with imaging, soundstage and dynamics, mined you its far from the best system i've heard to date(that honour goes to Graham) but that was before i owned a 52. Also note that my SBL are approx 2' feet from the rear(Yes rear)wall and 3' from side walls.
Works for me.

Best wishes

Chaz

Dear Chaz,

I am familar with the Goldring rebuilt Troikas and they are bar far the best option - better than EsCo IMHO. I would see if you can get your Arkiv B rebuilt by Lyra. I owned a Arkiv B from new and it is a super cartridge no question. The Arkiva is very special.

Now I understand the reason for the Mana and granite - if your SBL's can boom the room must be quite serious in that respect, al least you've got it working though. You know more Mana under the LP12 will help as well - also something like a Dynavector 17D2

Good listening

I've heard what the Dynavector can do(Simon s,different music tastes) just a pity i didn't take any vinyl with me, awesome cart well worth the money.

Concerning Mana under the LP12(more would help i know).
I'm in the process of putting my DIY stand through its paces and comparing with the the mana, whichever wins will be the deciding factor. The rest of the system will be on the new stands though.

Once i've got all the building work(Garden/Drive) and decorating done,it'll be time for invites( i'm awaiting ridicule).

Best wishes

Chaz
