    Advice on Harbeth speakers placement

thanks for all the feedback! Seems like many of you seem to point towards room acoustics. I do not have the luxury to change the living room just to make it fit for hifi listening. i guess getting a room correction device will be the best way forward

    Advice on Harbeth speakers placement

My speakers currently sound very mediocre and I am looking to see what is the main problem. For some reason i couldn't attach the image, so here's the link My chain is as such Hegel h190 > Harbeth SLH5+ XD I stream spotify using h190. Here are some potential problems I see with the setup...

Latest LS3/5a v other mini standmounts shootout !

How can you have a ls3/5a shootout without arguably the most important ls3/5a of modern times - Harbeth p3esr. And I agree with @Martyn Miles , why even include speakers that aren't even trying to sound like the classic BBC sound. I understand why they include proac tab 10 but why even Kef LS50...

Can I use Cambridge cxn as dac?

My integrated amp does not have a dac and I want to connect to my TV. Since I need a streamer as well, do you all know if I can use Cambridge cxn (v1, but v2 should be the same as well) as a standalone dac between the TV (which only has digit out but no line level out) and my int amp? I see...

Harbeth P3ESR XD - Friday Musings...

hah! that's why hifi is so subjective. I'm glad you find the 8030 organic and the harbeth fast and dynamic. in such cases, it is likely that my system just sucks, and perhaps so, since I use a digital source. all the best!

Harbeth P3ESR XD - Friday Musings...

Saw that you are talking about genelec 8030. Do you own that? I owned that previously and you will immediately find how slow the p3esr are once you compare the 2. Genelec is the direct opposite of p3esr. Fast, dynamic but relatively soulless and bright

Harbeth P3ESR XD - Friday Musings...

@JTC I'm curious. You mentioned that it sounds about right. So I assume you have both the p3esr and the XD version?

Harbeth P3ESR XD - Friday Musings...

Well, for interested buyers reading this, you see the opinion is very contrasting on the issue of speed and dynamics. JTC also mention about potential mismatch that can result in very slow sounding speakers So if you are interested in fast music, you may want to personally listen to the...

Harbeth P3ESR XD - Friday Musings...

They are too warm to be good in micro dynamics or nimble. Perhaps I have a system mismatch, but I highly doubt it. Well, we agree to disagree then.

Harbeth P3ESR XD - Friday Musings...

Well for me they are definitely slow. in fact, one of the slowest, non-dynamic speakers I've ever heard. That is if you are talking about the p3esr the new p3esr-XD do not face such problems. They are reasonably fast enough and reasonably dynamic. In exchange, you don't get that much of the...
