    Advice on Harbeth speakers placement

I have a pair of 40.2's and my advice would be to pull them into the room until you're as far away from them as they are apart. Put a piece of tape where your head is and toe them in so the tweeters are firing right at you. I found that getting them more near field made a big difference...

    New Ortofon 2M range

Would be interested to see what this would look like with one of those VTA block thingies. I've mounted a Nagaoka MP200 on a P3 at one point(lovely combo) and it didn't require near the amount of shimming that the numbers suggested. Would definitely be handy if they sit perfectly level on a...

    Underrated Components

Been running a Teac NT-505 streamer/DAC for few years now, highly underrated piece of gear. There were some positive end user reviews out there and I decided to take a chance at a very good price to see if it was for me. Had just gone from a Bluesound Node into a Chord Qutest and then Schitt...

    Dacs Again

Anyone heard the Weiss DAC 204? Seems to be getting some raves from what I've seen.

    Wiim Pro now Roon certified

I saw an instagram post from Roon on this so it must be real. Great news and a probably a better alternative than a Sonos Port or an older Squeezebox for secondary rooms. The price is about what it should be for a simple solid state transport.

    Outdoor speakers

Not sure where you're located but the PSB CS1000 sound fantastic for an outdoor speaker. They need a bit of punch to drive them which most NAD amps provide.

Music from a Digital only Source the Clock influence

I added the clock to my Teac NT-505 once I had spent enough time with it to be able to say it was going to stick around for awhile. Definitely an upgrade, I would liken it to going up in resolution in the world of video. Overall the image you are hearing has better detail, everything is more...

    Connect sub to Rega Brio-r

You can use the record out on the Brio to connect to the sub but the volume on the sub won't change with the volume on the amp. It would work though and you can pick a happy medium then push the volume up on the sub itself as needed.

Phono Stage for High Output MCs

The iFi Zen Phono has a number of choices for gain which would likely suit a HOMC somewhere in the middle. I picked up an iPhono 3 for a second system which sounds great and also has tons of flexibility. Worth a look for sure.

Recommend external dac up to €500 used.

The Metrum Octave would be a great option. Had one, loved it, sold it, regretted it. Now have a MKII Octave in a second system and am loving it once again. Not the last word in detail or frequency extremes but it has it where it counts. Lush, organic sound would be tough to beat for what the...

LFD Hybrid speaker cable. Peoples views/advice on this cable please.

I had a set of the grainless/grainfree biwire cables that wouldn't work with my last speaker purchase so I went and found myself a set of the hybrid ribbons. From what I understand they'll work well with most amp/speaker pairings but they are of course best suited to an LFD amp. At least in...

    Any fans of PSB speakers?

Paul Barton is a great designer especially when given a budget constraint. I have a pair of the wired PSB headphones and they're outstanding for the price. Unfortunately you look like a dork wearing them. I've heard both the newish Alpha P5 and T20 and they are exceptionally good for the...

Great budget amps...pick or add to this list.

If the Yamaha receiver doesn't qualify the AS801 should still be in the mix. Pretty sure Audiolab has a well rated integrated but not sure what model, haven't heard it.

What to listen for between NAD and Rega amps

I have heard whatever the latest version of the Brio is and the NAD which are both excellent budget minded amps. The Rega will give you more music pure and simple and it will bring out aspects of the music that will be slightly blurry on the NAD in comparison. Obviously speaker matching is...

    Gustard R2R streamer dac

Looks like a it could be a winner. Would like to put it against my Teac NT-505 which was one of the more pleasant audio surprises I've had. Great sounding piece of gear but greater is always welcome. A quick search doesn't confirm 100% that it's Roon Ready but if/when it is I'd gladly give it...
