I'd love there to be a Pitchfork for Hi-fi reviews, but unfortunately these publications need to be given the equipment in the first place. It's usually easy enough to read between the lines however, especially when measurements are provided.

Not everyone wants their Hi-fi connected to a computer, and are therefore happy to spaff money on an expensive streaming transport or indeed, an upscaler. I would hazard a guess that >90% of M-scaler customers haven't heard of HQPlayer, or just aren't interested. QED, not a competitor.

I'm with BT FTTP and it does indeed suck that I can't use a different router because of VoIP, but only because the SH2 is a bit Micky Mouse. It doesn't even have QoS. If you think your router affects the sound quality of your Hi-Fi however, you need your head looking at.
