Hello.
A while ago, a friend brought 12s, snaps, and 120 to my house. I listened to it and liked the sound better than my 32.5 (fitted NJ cards and RSL cards).
It had a clear high range, was smooth, and had excellent energy.
What is the source of this sound? Looking at the inside, it appears...
I finally solved the problem.
I checked the source cable as advised by colasblue.
The connection on one channel was wrong. Re-soldering solved the problem.
Thank you to everyone who helped.
This is the final result.
Tested with supercap to see if it was a problem with 52PS : Same symptom.
52 head unit opto-coupler replacement : same symptoms
Bundy cable replacement : same symptom
Change 52 to 32.5 : Same symptom
The conclusion is that my CDP seems to be the problem. However, it...
I am using 52PS. I replaced the LM317 on the logic circuit power supply board because there was no sound.
I'll swap with my other supercap. Then, I can more easily resolve whether it is a 52PS problem or a 52 head unit problem.
Many thanks.
Thanks for your help.
I discovered something new today.
I found that when I turn it on and play music in mono, it works normally for a few seconds, but then the sound gradually gets quieter and howling occurs.
To replace the opto-coupler, have to remove the top main board, but I have a Metcal...
Hello.
I am using naim 52 preamplifier.
Today I pressed the mono switch on the preamp and the sound was strange. The singer's voice becomes reduced and howls occur.
It seems as if a singer is singing in a cave. Volume is also reduced than when it was in stereo.
I would appreciate some help as...
The Philips 25V 10uF used in the 52 is not replaced by the Naim factory or other third party services, but Philips capacitors have a very short lifetime.
Actually, when I measured my 52, it was measured as 4~5uF, so I replaced all of them with new blue color BC 030 series.
I recapped my 52 and the blue color Philips 25V 10uF capacitors were measured under 5uF.
The leakage current values of the capacitors are also important.
This is my 52 service photo few months ago.
The serial number is 13xxxx and it is the POTS8 version.
I measured Philips axial type capacitors with LCR meter.
25V10uF, but the reading is below 50%.
