Who's heard the new ProAc SM100's?

You cannot go wrong with the SM100s. Many recording studios still use them and also the older Studio100s. It is one of the last pearls from late Stewart Tyler. 200w amplifiers are perfect for them.

Post-Trump: III (decline, further tantrums, legal proceedings, book deals etc)

Trump's Tik Tok ban reversal may be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Wonder how much of his supporters will turn towards RFK Jr.?

Sick of manual gearboxes? Maybe good news is coming

I had a Golf TDI and a Sportwagen, both with DSGs. I now drive a 6 speed manual GTI. I'm 70 and just love to drive...

    Exposure new top loader

Yes, Naim had BNC inputs for analogue but Exposure had a BNC digital output at the time, not Naim ;)

    Exposure new top loader

The 27 years old Exposure CD player also had a BNC output. Ahead of their time!

    McIntosh

It was just a question of time before someone divert a discussion about McIntosh into a political agenda! Come on man, it's just another hifi manufacturer and nothing else.

    McIntosh

I totally agree about custom fees and distributor profit margin and maybe i'm wrong but in the case of McIntosh and few other US/CAN products the difference seems higher in Europe compared to what we pay here for Euro products.

    McIntosh

The MA8950 took about a month before it completely openned up. The What Hifi review is spot on but I have some reservations. After many attemps switching between the digital inputs of the DA2 card and the ones from my Chord Qutest, I have just packed away the Chord which I find no better...

    McIntosh

IMO, in terms of value for money, McIntosh is untouchable in the US and Canada. It's a pity there is so much of a markup all over European countries. In US/CAN you can get a MA8950 integrated for much less than a new Naim Nova PE... The 450w. MC462 power amp. is $10k compared to $20K for the...

    Kef 105

I remember them as being very musical with exceptional stereo imaging. The only tweak I found that was worth the effort was to replace the castors with spikes. As for the 303, I had two in bridge mode. At the time, the hifi shop used to sell bridges for the 303s.

    Kef 105

Despite having a 24db crossover cut off, the 105-4s were easy to drive. I used them with a Quad 303, a Nait 2 and a Classé Audio DR3B. They had little grummets on each side of the screws holding the woofers to prevent vibration transfer to the enclosure. Can't imagine how much new ones would...

    New Linn Klimax 800 Amps

Like the McIntosh MC1.25KW at less than half the price? I concur.
