    HDMI arc query

This seems to be the right thread for me! Having just upgraded from an old LCD TV to one of the latest LG OLED C2 TVs, I'm now trying to avoid the need to bin my aging but beloved Audiolab 82000AP processor - which is HDMI 1.4 with no support for ARC or new video formats like HDR. My idea is...

Sounds like you need the FDAC. This is one of the reasons I'm waiting.

Looks really nice, you must be very proud of that :) And this was done using the cheap reflow oven that was causing you problems? Dumb question: Why does the oven not melt the plastic components?

LarsS, if your definition of a fanboy is anyone who has a different opinion of John and his work to yourself, then I'm proud to declare my membership of that group.

Ground loop hum fix - is this safe?

    Glad I asked, thanks.

Ground loop hum fix - is this safe?

Fair points! Regarding the bonding plug you pointed me at, I've found these available with binding posts (better) but with a 1 Megaohm resistor. Should this resistor matter?

Ground loop hum fix - is this safe?

Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated. This did cross my mind when I wired the plug, but doesn't the same danger apply to every single 3-pin earthed power plug that we've ever wired, or am I missing something (very likely!) ? I guess it wouldn't hurt to insulate the other two pins...

Thanks, I suspected this might be the answer... but how come?
