Looking for a reasonable quality integrated or pre/power with MM phono stage for a friend. Budget £2-400 WHY? Also may consider a matching CD player if one was available? Thanks

[WTD] Rolleiflex or other decent TLR

Hi John, I’ve got a 2.8D Xenotar in GWO that you can borrow if you like? It’s in nice condition but has got a small mark on the front optic that limits its value to collectors. It’s a nicer camera to use than the 2.8E/F IMO as it’s lighter/better balanced, but not quite as good as the late 3.5...

    [WTD] Headphone Amp/Dac

Looking for a decent midrange headphone amp/dac to power a set of Sennheiser HD800s. Must have USB input, and balanced or SE output is fine. I’m thinking something along the lines of a Sennheiser HDVD800, TEAC UD-501/503/505, Marantz HD-DAC1, etc. or equivalent. Thanks, James.

    Tannoy Lancaster cabs

In that case off the top of my head I reckon you could improve the Lancasters pretty simply by doing the following: Additional brace across the centre as you’ve described, additional bracing from centre brace to top and bottom panels. If I recall correctly the 12” in Lancaster’s had a sub...

    Tannoy Lancaster cabs

I'm certain you could improve them greatly but for 12" Golds they are still below optimum volume. I would start by working out what loading you were considering - 12" Golds in Lancasters were sealed, right? Once you've decided that you can work on cabinet treatment.

    Linn SARA, lovely

Yes this model was roughly pre-1983 with the flat front. There was an even earlier model that didn't have the composite baffle but I've only ever seen one pair of these - in a fetching Tiger Rosewood finish with some crazy single pillar stands in Dublinn Audio about 20 years ago!

Aktiv SARAs a hard sell in this day and age! These are early-80s models as well.

Modern Tannoys as HiFi Speakers - V8 V12 etc.

I'm not after ultimate extension so I guess I'd probably rather enjoy the i8/v8's by themselves. Is the standard crossover good for domestic use? What can you use to replace the bulb? OK, am I right in saying in room bass response from the 8's and 12's is likely to be similar, albeit with less...

Modern Tannoys as HiFi Speakers - V8 V12 etc.

Thanks Danny. In fact I got many of my old Tannoy's from Nicky at Lockwood years ago now! I'm in Edinburgh these days so a bit of a distance.

Modern Tannoys as HiFi Speakers - V8 V12 etc.

Hello all, In the past I've had several sets of Reds, Golds and HPDs of varying sizes and configurations and enjoyed them all greatly. For the last few years I've just been using some mini-monitors with my JLH 10w Class A amp and I'm looking to get another set of Tannoys. I don't really want to...

    [WTD] Ricoh GR

Hi Tony, it was actually one of the later GR cameras I was looking for. I think they are large sensor models, about 16MP or similar. Thanks, James.
