Previously happy LP12 owners who moved on.....

Whoops…In my fumbling senility I forgot to mention Peter Swain at Cymbiosis in my list of excellent Linn LP12 dealers. He overhauled my deck after many years of neglect, fitted the ARO & a DV Dame Kiri Te Kanawa cartridge (think that's what it was…) and Keel. A great place if you want to listen...

Previously happy LP12 owners who moved on.....

Neither do I. Love my ARO and maybe it's just the types of music I listen to but I've yet to hear it sounding “Dull”. Sorry to learn so many have had bad experiences with their Linn dealers. I bought my old fruit box from Rayleigh Hi-Fi in Chelmsford, before the beginning of history, & they...

TV/Movie adaptations that are so much worse than the source material.

He may not be a great actor but he's a jolly good egg - witness his spats with the Trump MAGA loonies.

TV/Movie adaptations that are so much worse than the source material.

I used to enjoy Jeffery Deaver's books, and was dismayed by the complete hash they made of “The Bone Collector”. I could forgive them making the character of Lincoln Rhyme black, but they completely changed the ending. I'm looking forward to the Disney+ series of “Shardlake”, from the C.J...

    Air Fryer

We weren't keen on an air fryer, but a cheap Ninja one appeared on Amazon. One of the most useful features is the dehydrate function. We have gluts of oyster mushrooms, & it makes a splendid job of drying these out.

    induction hobs

Our Seimens induction hob's 10 years old & still going strong (famous last words…). You can hear it quietly pulsing on certain settings.

    Air Fryer

Mmmm, Tesco Finest sausages. They really are quite superb, and cook brilliantly in our air fryer. 200deg, 12 minutes, & turn them a couple of times.

    Active Crossovers, anyone dabbled?

When I had Naim amplification I ran active SBLs, SL2s, and latterly DBLs over many years. Les at Avondale suggested converting the fairly crude filtering within the SNAXO 362 to his gyrators, but after he sent me some I realised fitting them would be a real struggle for me, so he kindly agreed...

    Any love for MX5’s?

You can have a lowered car because you think it looks prettier, but on UK roads they're a right old pain in the bum.

Car buying; does anyone enjoy it?

Buying a new car's generally a nice experience, but so much depends primarily on the salesperson you deal with, then on the dealer. Maye we've been fortunate, but the last few car purchases have been pretty good. A few years ago we bought a new Honda CR-V from the Ipswich dealers and were...

    Silly things that amuse

Women mature much quicker than men. I didn’t have breasts until I was 40.

    Car Audio

Difficult to comment on a specific installation. But if this helps, the Bose system in my Porsche 911 (991.1) was pretty naff. The advice on various Porsche forums was to change the tweeters in the dash. Not expecting much, I threw out the Bose ones (which were truly awful) in favour of some...
