I love it when measurements make you doubt your own ears. Thats not to say that ears are perfect But there good technical reasons why some amplifiers sound better than others.. It's just that those technical reasons dont come in the scope of published measurements

Thats a valid question snd one that's not accounted for in present measurement tests. I'm sure measurements are a useful tool, but the circuit design and implementation are more important to stop the cancellation effects going on in the amplifier once a music signal is introduced

It's a conundrum, I use open baffle speakers, and the room has little effect providing it's reasonably damped, ie carpet/ curtains so it not loudspeakers just types of loudspeakers?

I use /own all types of amplifiers but I still struggle with what your saying here.. When I used my low wattage set amps there is no increase in musicality with volume, they sound just as good at 1/2"watt or 2 watts, where there's virtually no distortion at either volume..but once I get around...

At last years ETF there was a room full of some very technical people, mostly all agreed that all distortions do not sound good..

But tuga (rick) seem to be insinuating that's euphoric and some kind of distortion? But I'm with you.. to me that's realistic

Thats a fair point,but worse than that is the single powersupply often used in these products, the output stage modulates the powersupply big time, and can cause cancellation and loss of dynamics when playing music.. In my experience that's the problem with most reasonably priced hifi
