@Mike P and @sq225917 - my CD80 is starting to cut out sporadically. It goes silent for a few minutes, then comes back in again and sounds perfect. It's doing it more and more these days. Do you know who can do a decent job of an overhaul and service?

Yes, definitely worth a try. I’ve got the CD80 analogue output coming into the Aux on the pre amp now so I can (and will) do this comparison again on different CDs just to check. Back to vinyl tonight though - bliss - nothing touches that sound

Really...?! The CD80 as I recall cost around £600 in 1990, whereas the D2A was originally $1600
