"Filament" type LED bulbs fail much more than the other kind (?).

By far the best dimmers I have tried to date are the Varilight Pro with LED. Certainly not the cheapest though. The best filament LEDS have been by Calex. The big calex bulbs I purchased have been very good to date, and do have a long specified life. How long that turns out to be? Three years so...

The Photography Purchase Confessional Thread (GAS)

I think the main use for me with 'Eternal' would be for uploading to online media from JPEG direct from camera. I'm with you on all 'best work' would be from Raw files. Thanks for the comment on the Q-Cap, gives me confidence I'm not dropping a clanger there.

The Photography Purchase Confessional Thread (GAS)

Ill be getting that new Q Cap later this month, see how it goes instead of the circular Leica version. Have you tried the new 'Eternal' simulation available as a free DL from Leica fotos? Must admit I am liking what it does at the moment. will be trying it with people in the frame when we get...

'Spotless Pure Water' Filling stations for water.

The 'Spotless Water" is aimed at the window cleaning trade - no need to squeege off as it leaves no marks as it dries. Good for final rinse on a car as well ;-)

Thinking of getting into streaming from a NAS device (on a budget) Any advice?

Read what I said - it is that. He could not DL the MP3 as FLAC without paying for it as FLAC

'Spotless Pure Water' Filling stations for water.

With a guaranteed TDS value of 0, it should be as good as you can get.

    New Dynavector LOMC

Apparently no - the XX2MKII will remain in production - as long as demand for it remains - is what we are told.

Thinking of getting into streaming from a NAS device (on a budget) Any advice?

For ripping/downloading, please consider using FLAC rather than WAV. It will save you a whole heap of headaches at a later date should you consider migrating your music library.

Post-Trump: III (decline, further tantrums, legal proceedings, book deals etc)

I'd go for Tardigrades myself as eventual winners, they have many more ways of surviving than roaches :) Plus -

What are you listening to right now #64

Not exactly sure if there is a "Genre" for this, but I'm really liking it! Weather patterns - actual measurements used from a storm on the Chichester coast (story in the text) used to create electoric music. This guy has worked very, very hard to get this out to the public - and the results are...

Why is a streamer better than a desktop/laptop running e.g. iTunes?

If his DAC were on board with the stored music - then you may be correct. But - in Fourlegs case - how does the digital data reach his off board DAC unless in a digital stream of information? Local streaming.

The Tory Party's last Budget for a while..?

How many of us would like to see the OP headline - The Tory's last budget. Ever.

    Electric Boiler

Storing hot water produced by an electric boiler would be expensive and not worthwhile IMO - a 10-20KW instant HW Heater from the likes of Screwfix is all thats needed at each point HW is needed? Using an electric boiler for heating, that is not going to be cheap in this country with the cost of...
