    Most impactful LP12 related upgrades

That's weird. You have an early R/C power supply for the LP12, shouldn't make a noise like that but I cant think what else it could be Do you have the system grounded correctly?

    BBC "License" for LS3/5a

I think that's the key - it's a trademark/copywrite licensing fee, rather than a patent licensing fee. These last longer (I think copywrites are 70 years and trademarks have to be renewed every 10 years). But yes, the BBC has to agree to license the trademark/copywrite and this hopefully would...

    BBC "License" for LS3/5a

I see all the discussions about bona fide "licenses" from the BBC to build LS3/5a speakers. My understanding is that when a company applies for a patent on a product, and that patent is granted, no one can produce a product that conforms to the patented product without obtained a license for...

    Ariston/Linn: contested History

I don't think we'll ever know the real story about the RD11/LP12 as only one of the principals is still alive. Knowing the Linn culture and personalities and having discussed and bought my first real HiFi component from Hamish (Thermac) in early 1970, I'm inclined to believe the Ariston side of...

Previously happy LP12 owners who moved on.....

I wouldn't worry too much about spare parts remaining available for the LP12. Linn has amortized its development costs for the LP12 many times over (as, probably, have you). It's pure profit for them now and we all know how much Linn likes profits!!!

    Current Kore substitutes

I may stand corrected - it appears that Stamford Audio have the Mober subchassis and other mober/hercules products still available. Check out their web site: https://www.stamfordaudio.co.uk/

    How much??!!

Falcon products are no longer available in the US. They stopped selling them here when they discontinued their relationship with Mobile Fidelity a year or more ago. Of course, supply and demand dictates that used Falcon LS3/5As are going for silly prices right now. Hopefully that will end...

    Current Kore substitutes

Edmund Chan (Mober, Hercules) appears to have retired. There's a handful of his old products on ebay but I haven't see much sign of life since before Covid. The Hercules II power supply for the LP12 appears to be the only product currently manufactured and available for purchase via retail...

Linn Isobariks - replacing the mid and bass drivers with Falcon units

That's very interesting - I don't know that. Might explain why the midrange from the FB110s sounds a little recessed (?)

    Stirling Broadcast LS3/5a V3 Review.

That's really odd. I always considered the Kans and the LS3/5As were at totally opposite ends of the spectrum.

Linn Isobariks - replacing the mid and bass drivers with Falcon units

That's a major bummer. I'd be surprised if the added damping would make that much of a difference (doesn't sound like it's subtle). Are all the speakers phased correctly? I recall the B110s use in the 'Brick were different from the ones used in the LS3/5a (which the FB110 is designed to...

    Stirling LS3/5a v2 tweeter repair ?

Why not call Stirling? They may be aware of an issue that points to either the tweeter or crossover (which may save you mailing the speaker to them).
