Maybe the ease in which one may envisage setting up this type of system may be a little short sighted. Here are a few things Joe Roberts commented on that should be considered, I never heard Line Magnetic but I heard GIP Vintage series (mesh 555 and 597A) sounding BETTER than the originals...

Also maybe worth considering that there are various different things you can paint onto from very heavy weave canvas to very fine linen, this may also have an effect on things but the "sealing" issue is a tricky one.

haha, used to be but am making small panels at the moment using linen over oak armature and very thin oils, the dark layered oils are very time consuming:)
