Passive SCM40s can't be converted to active SCM40s. SCM50s, 100s, 150s can be converted.

Your 250 should be more than capable of driving the passive SCM40s, mine was. As with all things tho', more power does provide more control... mine currently sit on the end of a pair of 135s. As for the active version, that's my next avenue of discovery when funds allow :) (btw not sure why...

I've a Moth RCM (all I could afford at the time) and have no complaints about its cleaning ability. A pair of industrial ear defenders are a necessity for ears and sanity :)

If using standard Naim boards, it'll be a 'bit' of a downgrade. The combination of Dynavector phono stage and cartridge, especially in Dr. T mode, is pretty sweet for the price.
