Thanks. In sound it is quite similar to my CD93T (which has a very realistic portrayal of the scale of instruments and voices), but 'better' in almost every respect (although I note the CD93T actually measures slightly better!). It is a shame that more CD player manufacturers of 20-years ago...

I bought an amplifier from these forums without prior sight and it was truly pristine upon arrival. It is much more trustworthy than eBay, especially if another member has vouched for the seller.

It says something that my back-up option costs 3x as much. I must say though that the AV9 gets surprisingly close. The AV8, which I don't own, is more transparent than the AV9 on account of not having the secondary PSU and HDMI boards.

If I cannot find a C31, my backup plan is Music First Pre.

They are very rare and their reputation is fully deserved. At the time of their release they received a bad rep from What HiFi, of all places.

I have now acquired a pair of P1 monoblocks so I am back in the market for a C31, should anybody have one. Must be in silver to match the rest of the system.
