    Replacing caps in speaker xover

"No resistors to worry about." You're a lucky fella.

    Replacing caps in speaker xover

Regarding your inductors, it's important to position them relative to each other to minimise crosstalk. The magnetic fields interact with each other raising the noise floor. With a lot of speakers this is overlooked to save money and speed up assembly by allowing all coils to lie the obvious...

    Trouble finding speaker wire pants

I looked at the same thing I think but needed 10mm entry which I found at soundimports.eu for Euro 0.86 each when ordering 10 or more.

    Vibration Isolation Experiments

I have recently come across what appears to be an excellent device for isolation via magnetic suspension which would not be constrained by a resonant frequency as when springs are used. Has anyone tried these gizmos? See link below...

    Trouble finding speaker wire pants

Hey Barry, thanks. A visit shows these guys are nuts! RS asking 50 bucks each and Farnell similar price and only one size 19mm diam. Prices even higher in Ireland! I found these guys @ Euro 0.86 each when buying 10 + and from Holland so I don't have to pay VAT twice. https://www.soundimports.eu/

    Trouble finding speaker wire pants

I'm having no luck finding these things. There are some on ebay but will take 50 days to get here, and that's the fast service šŸ˜¬ Any suggestions?

    Vibration Isolation Experiments

I have recently replaced Isoacoustics Oreas with a Townshend Platform under my Oppo 103 which was a large positive improvement and very obvious. The Oreas were removed and the player listened to on it's own feet before placing the Platform underneath. No comparison.

    Subwoofers and LS3/5As

I notice some misunderstanding regarding integrating subs with speakers. Perhaps I can clear up a few points: There is often mention of some sub being too slow or ponderous. If a sub seems slow it is not the subs fault it's the room's and the incorrect placement and phase setting. Phase/timing...

Have dacs changed so much in 10 years.

If you read the informative post #16 on page 1 as supplied by @tuga you'll find answers to your questions. Did you read it? Have you ever heard an Ayre DAC or any other of that caliber? I own a Wadia 15 DAC, now about 30years old and plays redbook only which I do not find to be a handicap. I...

    Please help with unknown crossover

From your description you have one reactive component in the tweeter circuit which mean it's Ist order = 6dB/octave. The series/parallel resistor combo are to attenuate the output to the SPL of the woofer. XO design is a bit more complicated than just wiring in a different tweeter. If you want...

DAC experts.. whatā€™s as good asā€¦

I have not heard any of the Weiss DACs but a very good friend with money has and has heard or owned many including Bryston, Chord Dave, Mola Mola Tambaqui and more. He has now settled on a Musetec 005 and claims he prefers this to all others. It seems not very well known but priced at around...

    Audio Research LS7 - Recapping ????

Brimars are great sounding. Their ECC81 beat out Telefunken and Mullard in my SE EL84 unit. Perhaps consider doubling up on the O-ring dampers.

    Upgrade from Bluesound Node 2i

A good friend replaced his Naim unit with an Innuos Pulse. I have not heard either of these nor the Pulse Mini but he claims he prefers the Pulse as he is hearing a really big improvement and not just a difference. The Innuos Sense software is highly praised for it's sound. Personally I would...

    System pics 2024

A suspended ceiling panel is an excellent way to tame a room. Basically the 3 axes: front to back, side to side and top to bottom need the reflections to be partially absorbed. Most people rely on a carpet to take care of the floor to ceiling axis. A carpet will help but it's mostly the top...

Musing about upgrades - Two sets of speakers (in the same room) ?

Yes can be heard but usually the effect is swamped by room acoustics. I wonder in your case if the act of standing another pair of speakers in close proximity to your left speaker is not contributing to the image shift to the left. If you can please find the time and energy it would be...
